Coming to this dark place of sin, presuming that what one does is important is ridiculous! How ridiculous! Oh, how ridiculous! Furthermore, that which is called "corpse," seeing it is frightening, yet it exists in the veins of the body right now. As the scriptures say. An old monk facing the corpse of a weak old woman, merely looking at it or touching it, and thinking it is of great significance, is also ridiculous! What use can there be in that? In general, all who come to this place pretending to have faith, do not take everything they hear as truth, do not listen to everything others say. The root guru, like the relics of a true Buddha, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, whatever prayers are made will be fulfilled, yet they do not even make offerings or prostrations. The supreme six-syllable mantra, piles of stones forming mani walls, merely seeing, hearing, remembering, touching, even being touched by the wind, can attain the state of non-retrogression, this is repeatedly emphasized in the sutras of the Victorious Ones. But they are not even willing to do one circumambulation. Like an old dog guarding a corpse, guarding one's own door, peeking like a pig, eavesdropping like a cat, is also ridiculous! Now, if you want to do something meaningful, go to Kathok, Dzongsar, Gyarong, or by a sea like Yama, study and practice the "Bodhicharyavatara," understand what faith is, why one meets a guru, what is meaningful practice, what is meaningless practice, understand a little about the distinction between Dharma and non-Dharma. In the "Bodhicharyavatara" it says, "In whatever way, at these times, let mindfulness become a habit." Ask everyone what the meaning of this sentence is. Like me, the corpse of an old man about to die, can seeing or touching it make mindfulness a habit? Even if doing retreats and recitations, first, from a qualified guru, such as Kongtrul Rinpoche, the treasure of the ocean of pith instructions, or Shabdrung Khyentse Rinpoche, receive the empowerment, transmission, and instructions of a single deity, and that which one deeply believes in, without needing to seek help from other dharmas and gurus, then practice. Otherwise, empty meditation, retreats like throwing stones in the dark, and false faith, verbal recitations, have no meaning, know this. These words are the true words spoken from the heart, but if done like this, one will surely receive all kinds of scolding and harsh words.

It seems you are like that too, but there is nothing to do. Oh, Haha Bho! Aha ha! Homage to the Guru! From a young age, I encountered the Dharma and entered the gate of Dharma. Although I studied the Dharma and so on, due to the heavy affliction of my own mind, I violated all the vows of individual liberation and mantra. Even though I tried to practice for a lifetime, I could not generate even the slightest bit of calm abiding. Thus, the training in discipline and mind are both absent, and the training in wisdom is as far as heaven and earth. Because I have studied a lot, the merit of learning, whether it is Sutra or Tantra, in explaining the words and meanings and in writing, whatever I do is somewhat good. As it is said: Fame is the flour scattered by demons. Don't take poison as medicine! Like this, due to the power of demonic activities, or the praise and fame of everyone else, came to me. Because you are interested in all the new and old schools, let everyone meet you and hear your voice. Some people say that this is enough. Although I knew that doing so would be leisurely and that I would have plenty of food and clothing, I thought of what is said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: 'I have much wealth and am treated with respect, and many people like me.' If I were to hold such pride, fear would arise after death. Thinking of this, I dared not be deceitful. Others say that you are an accomplished one, a good person, etc. If I pretended to be so and accepted it, it would become a lie of a human guru. Because I was afraid of this, I repeatedly told everyone the truth in my true state. Like me, although I have a little merit of learning, I have no merit of realization at all. Like the six groups of monks in the past, looking at their faces, touching them with my hands, etc., treating meaningless things as meaningful, I dare not deceive others, not because I like or dislike the difference between the rich and the poor, or the difference in the way of saying Abu and Lama families, etc. Not to mention those who do not understand at all. Those who know a little but quote many scriptures also follow empty talk and do these meaningless efforts, which is a pity. Please do not be disappointed that I dare not deceive. In short, the so-called faith is to have faith in the Three Jewels. Among the Three Jewels, faith in the Buddha and the Sangha is especially important.
