Buddha Archive’s HTML presentation is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). If you reuse that presentation, credit Buddha Archive, link to the license, and indicate whether you changed it. The license does not extend to third-party material merely because it appears on this site.
Texts, editions, and translations
Published readings can contain an older underlying work alongside a later edition, transcription, or translation. Each part can have a different rights status. A text’s presence in the library does not mean that every version is in the public domain or licensed under CC BY 4.0.
The rights of many individual files have not yet been independently verified. Where a text has no specific license notice, no permission to republish it is being asserted here. Assess the work, edition, translation, and your intended use individually.
Sources and attribution
A reading page may show a source line or archive path. That records provenance; a file or folder name is not a license. When a source and license are verified for an individual work, the appropriate attribution should identify the creator or rights holder when known, link to the source and license, and note any changes.
CC BY 4.0 specifically requires appropriate credit, a link to the license, and an indication of changes. See the Creative Commons license summary for its terms.
Archive access
The separately sold TXT archive provides access to downloadable files. Buying access does not alter the rights in an individual text, edition, or translation. The published texts on this website remain free to read without a purchase.
