How shameful to be a monk who is strict at the beginning but lax at the end! How shameful to be a Bodhisattva who is gentle in speech but harsh in heart! How shameful to be a mantra practitioner who has broken vows but enjoys sex! How shameful to be a practitioner with endless hopes and doubts! Now don't do, look at being deceived by what has been done! Now don't think, look at being confused by what has been thought! Now don't speak, look at being distracted by what has been spoken! Now don't practice, look at being bound by what has been practiced! Now the old dog wanders around the village, longing in its heart. Now the old cow lies in the pen, longing in its heart. Now there are no rules, doing whatever one pleases, longing in the heart. Now concealing one's identity, wandering around, longing in the heart. No need for a lama, one knows one's own affairs. No need for a servant, one can manage one's own tasks. No need for intelligence, one knows refuge and recitation. Now one thinks whatever happens is meant to be. That's how it is, the self-image of a ruleless corpse. That's how it is, the appearance of a rotting old dog. I advise all the virtuous holders of the teachings who come after me. Please keep your eyes wide open for virtuous conduct. Outwardly, wearing the yellow robes of individual liberation. Inwardly, the Bodhisattva's giving and taking are chaotic and confused. The secret and praised actions are like a damp pocket. Please be such a holder of the three vows. For oneself, the view and meditation are held high. For others, the Dharma talk is melodious and loud. For both, disciples and students gather busily. Please be such a perfecter of the two benefits. In terms of Dharma, there are many kinds of learning, contemplation, and meditation. In terms of worldly affairs, the thoughts of deception and trickery are strong. The activity of union is the flourishing wheel of action. Please be such an excellent one who combines the two systems. Explaining the philosophical texts, learning from many mouths. The profound meaning of secret mantra, dug from the stone. Various experiences and melodies, arising from the depths of the heart. Please be such a great scholar, accomplished one, and treasure revealer. Knowing all the tenets, having gained much knowledge from texts. Accomplishing all the deities, having many kinds of deity vows. Relying on all the protectors, the torma offerings piled high. Please be such a qualified lama. Outwardly beautiful, with clean conduct and appearance. Inwardly clever, good at pleasing, skilled at seeking wealth. Pleasing to look at, enjoyable to be with, untying the knot of miserliness. Please rely on such a qualified monk. In terms of Dharma, skilled in various methods of hand gestures and joint practices. Not giving freedom, skilled at embezzling public funds. Immediately collecting what is gained, skilled at enticing with rainbows.

Please attend to a qualified steward. Exhausted meditation, useless recitations, generous giving. Cutting off the good, settling the bad, difficult emptiness becomes easy. Darkening the face, glaring with hatred, even inflicting punishment on inferiors. Please attend to such a qualified steward. If you do so, the incarnate will not suffer losses. Covering up deception, the monastery's foundation will not be emptied. The monks will unite, and both self and others' benefit will be accomplished. May there be such complete auspiciousness! The words of the single-lineage oral instructions, called the Treasure of Jewels, abide here. Son Shri, keep it in mind. There are three things that must not be forgotten: the kind lama, the compassionate Buddha, mindfulness and awareness. There are three things that need to be remembered: the preceptor who gives vows, the Dharma that teaches vows, the vows to be kept. There are three things that must be present: the body should rely on the mind, do not be lazy, the mind should be relaxed. There are three things that are joyful to forget: the enemy of anger, the object of attachment, the sleep of ignorance. There are three things that are joyful to hold: in a gathering, keep your mouth shut; when alone, be diligent with your hands; at all times, keep your mind still. There are three things that need to be kept secret: one's own merits, others' faults, future plans. There are three things that must not be flaunted: sudden renunciation, cunning tricks, temporary virtuous deeds. There are three places one must not go: the midst of a quarrel, a gathering of many people, a rowdy game. There are three things that must not be said: Dharma to those who do not believe, history to those who are not familiar, impossible things. There are three things that are not needed: being hot and cold to friends, contradictory speech, hypocrisy in divination. There are three things that must not be done: arrogance of self-importance, exposing others' shortcomings, disrespecting anyone. There are three things that must not be lost: wealth to the noble, trust to the base, heartfelt words to anyone. There are three things that must not be examined: the body of a beautiful woman, the actions of a friend, one's own merits. There are three things that need to be followed: speech should be in accordance with friends, clothing should be in accordance with local customs, the mind should be in accordance with the Dharma. There are three things that must not be listened to: others' praise, strangers' words, ignorant differences. There are three things that the mind must not envy: the wealth of the rich, the status of the noble, the adornments of the alluring. There are three things that speech must not slander: people respected by the community, goods that others want to sell, friends who love you. There are three things that must not be praised:
