Third, even walking naked in the village without any hesitation, degenerating from having shame to only acting shamelessly. Fourth, like a dog, wearing vomit, lying on the road, even if a dog licks his face, he doesn't know to avoid it. Fifth, even speaking harshly and beating parents, and even angrily quarreling with the owner who gives him alcohol and other miscellaneous things. Sixth, even fighting with very close people, leading to many deaths and killings because of strife. Seventh, even if of noble birth, acting in a base manner, causing the family to decline; all wealth and enjoyment are exhausted and ruined. Eighth, suddenly laughing, suddenly crying, speaking incoherently like a madman, changing expression, eyes filled with tears, becoming the source of bad talk, becoming an object of slander and contempt. Ninth, not entering a beneficial path for oneself, speaking many nonsense words without thinking, and even though old in age and accustomed to all things, knowing all good and bad deeds, if drunk, engaging in actions that destroy oneself and others. Tenth, in the past, some gods fought on the summit of Mount Meru because of drinking alcohol, and the gods expelled those with bad behavior, who hid under the earth and were called Asuras, so drinking alcohol also diminishes the glory of the gods. Eleventh, speaking untruths as if they were true, happily doing things that should not be done, etc., thoughts and actions completely reversed, like a madman. In short, that which intoxicates the mind is like the mantra of a sage. It is the source of all sins. It is the root and basis of suffering. It is the source of bad talk and all undesirable things, like bad omens appearing manifestly. It is said to be the path of strife and the unbearable darkness of the heart. If the fault is heavy for monks, one might wonder if the fault in the next life is small for ordinary people, but since drinking alcohol is said to be a fault by its very nature, the fault is the same in both this life and the next. In the medical texts, the faults of being intoxicated by alcohol are also stated as follows: Being too excessive changes the mind, becomes unrestrained, and destroys shame. The first stage of drunkenness is unrestrained and content with the situation. One thinks that destroying bad thoughts is happiness. The second stage of drunkenness is like a mad elephant.

As it is said. A place of misconduct, violating the precepts, lying like a senseless corpse after being completely drunk. Becoming a place of darkness, knowing nothing. Thus it is said, initially a time of reckless joy, in the middle a time of mad misconduct, and finally a time of senseless corpse, giving rise to these three states, and so on. Furthermore, regarding how the suffering of the lower realms arises in the future, as it is said in the Sutra Distinguishing Good and Evil: Those who drink and make merry in this life will be born in the hell of drinking molten copper. And as it is said in the Sutra of Mindfulness: Those who constantly practice and cultivate alcohol mixed with alcohol, increasing it greatly, will be born in the weeping hell of sentient beings. And as it is said in the Sutra Explaining the Benefits of the Five Precepts: Those who drink alcohol will fall and be born in the hot hell. The sentient beings who fall there will be boiled for many thousands of years. Then they will be thrown out and discarded on the shore of the boundless river. With nowhere to go, they will be thrown again and again. There, the hell guardians, like fishing with saliva, will slam them onto the burning iron ground. They proclaim thus: Hey, man, what do you want? Lord, I am thirsty. The hell guardian opens his mouth with a burning iron hook and pours molten iron juice into it. Then his lips are burned, his throat is also burned, his chest is burned, his intestines are burned, his heart is also burned, and oil comes out of his anus. They experience suffering and roll around crying. At that time, they will not die either, until the fruits of their sinful deeds are exhausted. Until then, they will experience the fully ripened feelings. Therefore, the Bhagavan said: The hot and rough river is boundless and extremely difficult to cross. The petals of the iron lotus, walk on the sharp petals. The boundless river, without foundation, how can one practice non-dharma? Whoever drinks alcohol, that sin is not small. Even if he becomes a human, he is always forgetful, dull like a sheep, his wisdom is scattered, he does not understand things, he is always sleepy, and his intelligence is low.
