即使是母亲们，也会从内心产生邪见和蔑视，扰乱她们的心。瞬间摧毁多生累劫的善根。如果不尊重国王、大臣等种姓的首领，就会受到惩罚，即使只是轻微的冒犯也不敢，但他们却不知畏惧，轻视他们，导致家财散尽，甚至受到危及生命的惩罚。如果是出家人，仅仅是喝酒就违背了佛陀的戒律，轻视神圣的佛法，不追随圣者的僧团，无视戒律，不恭敬三宝和戒律。由于这是一切堕落的根源，因此会破戒，积累无量的罪恶。观看不该看的东西，说不该说的各种闲话等，由于不懂得守护根门，所有清醒的意识都成了醉酒的根源，甚至不愿与之交谈。原本谨慎的人也变得放荡，毫无羞耻地直接或间接地追求女性等性行为的对象。如果是出家人，就会失去戒律；如果是俗人，就会失去羞耻。对于经常酗酒的人，更不用说贤哲了，就连自己的亲戚朋友也认为他一无是处，想方设法地避开他，最终只能独自一人，或与和他一样的恶友聚在一起，在痛苦中度过一生。酗酒的人无论走到尊贵或卑贱的人面前，都不会受欢迎，而且批评之声不绝于耳，最终与所有人不和，被排除在人群之外。由于被迷惑的心所控制，无法保持清醒，如果是出家人，就会失去四根本戒；即使是俗人，也会因为争斗、杀戮、盗窃、欺骗等许多灾难的根源，而身不由己地从事各种非法的恶行。即使仅仅讲述了饮酒的这些过患，他们不但不明白，反而对佛陀及其教法产生邪见，将缺点视为优点，颠倒是非，认为饮酒是功德等，从而舍弃正法，将非法视为正法。

Even mothers develop wrong views and contempt from within, disturbing their minds. They destroy the merits accumulated over many lifetimes in an instant. If kings, ministers, and other leaders of their lineage are not respected, punishment will ensue. Even a slight offense is不敢， but they disregard fear and contempt, leading to the loss of wealth and even punishments that threaten their lives. If one is a monastic, merely drinking alcohol violates the Buddha's precepts, disrespects the sacred Dharma, does not follow the noble Sangha, disregards vows, and disrespects the Three Jewels and the precepts. Since it is the root of all downfalls, one breaks vows and accumulates immeasurable sins. They look at what should not be looked at, and speak all sorts of inappropriate gossip. Because they do not know how to guard the doors of their senses, all clear awareness becomes the root of drunkenness, and they do not even want to talk to others. Even those who were previously cautious become unrestrained, shamelessly pursuing women and other objects of sexual desire directly or indirectly. If one is a monastic, they lose their vows; if one is a layperson, they lose their shame. Not to mention the wise and virtuous, even their own relatives and friends see the alcoholic as worthless and try to avoid them. Eventually, they are left alone or gather with bad companions like themselves, spending their lives in misery. The alcoholic is unwelcome wherever they go, whether to the noble or the lowly, and endless criticism follows them. In the end, they are incompatible with everyone and are excluded from society. Controlled by a deluded mind, they cannot remain clear. If one is a monastic, they break the four root vows; even if one is a layperson, they engage in various non-Dharmic and unwholesome actions involuntarily, due to being the cause of many disasters such as fighting, killing, stealing, and lying. Even if only these faults of drinking are mentioned, they not only do not understand, but they also develop wrong views towards the Buddha and his teachings, considering faults as virtues, mistaking evil omens for auspicious ones, and regarding drinking as meritorious. Thus, they abandon the Dharma and consider what is non-Dharma as Dharma.

和执着，对于自身的羞耻感和对他人的顾忌全都丧失，信奉神道的人即使戒律誓言破损也没有后悔之心，反而更加贪婪和傲慢。信奉人道的人甚至连政府的规章制度和誓言都不尊重，今天的敌人变成明天的朋友，今天朋友的精华从明天起就变成仇恨的根源，像这样对于今生来世的因果什么都不懂的无耻之徒，会变成令人作呕的景象。即使和想要杀死自己的仇人住在一起也信任他，对于能帮助自己的智者和有见识的人，连请教一下的想法都不会产生，而且不听从他们的教诲，最终让自己今生来世都遭受毁灭，像疯子一样赤身裸体地走动也不觉得羞耻，嘴里没完没了地说着废话，也没有人想听，心里不懂得取舍，行为肆无忌惮。 现在对于死亡的悬崖、水火、猛兽等等也没有丝毫畏惧。从嘴里吐出呕吐物，从屁股里排出屎尿，像垃圾一样仰面躺在人来人往的路口，像死人一样没有感觉和意识。今天要做的事情拖到明天，而且还一拖再拖。闻思修等所有世间法和佛法都荒废了，身语意三门完全被放纵所控制。和佛陀的清净经论完全相违背，不仅让自己从解脱的道路上倒退，而且让所有和自己有关系的人今生来世都遭受毁灭。死后立即堕入恶趣，感受无量无边的痛苦，即使将来投胎为人，也会变成疯子和失去记忆的人。在《本生经》中也说过，饮酒会导致今生出现十一种过患：身体虚弱，脚步蹒跚，在不熟悉的地方游荡，遭受殴打；记忆力衰退，不辨食物好坏随意食用；无法控制自己的心，智慧衰退，像牲畜一样愚蠢，被敌人嘲笑，所有善妙功德都丧失殆尽，却毫无顾忌地 肆意做出各种身体姿态，口中胡言乱语。所有的羞耻感都消失殆尽。

and clinging, all sense of shame towards oneself and consideration for others is lost. Even if those who believe in the gods break their vows and commitments, they have no remorse, but become even more greedy and arrogant. Those who believe in humanity do not even respect the regulations and oaths of the government. Today's enemy becomes tomorrow's friend, and today's friend's essence becomes the source of hatred from tomorrow onwards. Like this, those shameless people who do not understand the cause and effect of this life and the next will become a disgusting sight. Even if they live with an enemy who wants to kill them, they trust him. They do not even have the thought of consulting wise and knowledgeable people who can help them, and they do not listen to their teachings. In the end, they cause themselves to be destroyed in both this life and the next. Like madmen, they walk around naked without feeling ashamed, and they speak endless nonsense, but no one wants to listen. Their minds do not know what to accept and reject, and their behavior is unrestrained. Now they have no fear of the cliff of death, water, fire, wild animals, etc. They vomit from their mouths and excrete feces and urine from their buttocks, lying face up like garbage at the crossroads where people come and go, without feeling or awareness like a dead person. What needs to be done today is postponed to tomorrow, and it is postponed again and again. All worldly and Dharma activities, including listening, contemplation, and meditation, are abandoned, and the three doors of body, speech, and mind are completely controlled by indulgence. They completely contradict the pure sutras and tantras of the Buddha, not only causing themselves to regress from the path of liberation, but also causing all those related to them to be destroyed in both this life and the next. Immediately after death, they fall into the lower realms, experiencing immeasurable suffering. Even if they are reborn as humans in the future, they will become madmen and people who have lost their memory. In the Jataka tales, it is also said that drinking alcohol leads to eleven faults in this life: the body becomes weak, the steps falter, wandering in unfamiliar places, suffering beatings; memory declines, eating whatever is available without distinguishing between good and bad; unable to control one's own mind, intelligence declines, becoming as foolish as livestock, being ridiculed by enemies, all good qualities are lost, but without any hesitation, making all kinds of bodily gestures unrestrainedly, and speaking nonsense from the mouth. All sense of shame disappears completely.
