Thus it is said. Therefore, whatever accumulation of merit or purification of obscurations the sons of the Victorious Ones, the Bodhisattvas, may do, it is solely for the benefit of all sentient beings pervading the expanse of space. Needless to say, doing it for the sake of one's own life is out of the question. Even if one desires to attain the state of perfect Buddhahood for oneself, it is definitely not the path of the Great Vehicle. Therefore, whatever accumulation of merit or purification of obscurations one may do, it is essential to aim it at the benefit of all limitless sentient beings, and to ensure that it is never mixed with thoughts of self-interest. If one does so, even if one does not desire one's own benefit and the happiness of this life, etc., they will arise incidentally, just as smoke arises incidentally when a fire burns, and malt arises incidentally when barley is sown. Therefore, the thought of deliberately pursuing these should be abandoned like poison. The Accumulation of Merit of a Kusāli The fifth, the accumulation of merit of a Kusāli, which cuts through the four māras at once, is as follows: Here, the so-called accumulation of merit of a Kusāli refers to a slight offering of one's body. Generally, it is related to the Guru Yoga in Resting the Mind in its Natural State. Although it can be done as part of the Guru Yoga, it is not contradictory to do it as a branch of the mandala for accumulating merit. Therefore, just as it is the tradition to explain them together here, I will explain it here as well. Here, Kusāli means beggar, so those who have renounced this life, like hermits, who cannot find other resources to accumulate merit, rely on visualization to make offerings of their own bodies. That is to say, all things are done with effort, striving, accumulating, storing, and cherishing, etc., for the purpose of nourishing one's own body. And, among all enjoyments, one is certain to cherish one's own body the most. Therefore, cutting off attachment to the body and making offerings is even more beneficial than making offerings of other things. As it is said: Horses and cattle increase a hundredfold, sons and wives a thousandfold, the offering of the body increases a millionfold. And, Machig Labdrön said: Offering the body without attachment, if one does not know that it is the two accumulations, and cherishes the aggregates, then confess to the illusory body.

Confession. Thus it is said. Furthermore, if one is initially accustomed to focusing on oneself, then transfer the consciousness into the sky, and it is also acceptable to generate Krodhamatrika in an instant. If not, then in the center of one's heart, visualize the essence of mind and consciousness as Machig Krodhamatrika, a black wrathful mother, vividly present in a dancing posture. Her right hand raises a curved knife to the sky, and her left hand holds a skull cup filled with blood at her heart. On the right side of her nape, a black pig face emits a 'du' sound, generate such a deity with the appearance of a wrathful mother. When reciting 'PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体:फट्,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪!)', it shoots out through the central channel from the aperture of Brahma at the crown of the head, and instantly one's own body transforms into a corpse and collapses. Moreover, contemplate that this body is not like the present one, but vast, stout, and oily, equal in extent to the three thousand great thousand worlds. Then, visualize oneself clearly as Machig Krodhamatrika, the black wrathful mother, and with the curved knife in her right hand, make a cut at the brow of one's own corpse, causing the skull to be cut open with a 'gar' sound. Furthermore, contemplate that this skull is not like the present one, but equal in extent to the three thousand great thousand worlds. Then, the left hand of Krodhamatrika takes the skull and places it upside down on top of three piles of human skulls equal to Mount Meru, with the forehead facing oneself. Again, the curved knife in the right hand of Krodhamatrika lifts the corpse and places it inside the skull cup. Then, above the skull cup in the sky, visualize a white syllable 'HAṂ (藏文,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思: ㄏㄨㄥ)', the nature of which is nectar; and below the skull cup, visualize a short red syllable 'A (藏文,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿)', the nature of which is fire. Then, when reciting 'OṂ ĀḤ HŪṂ (藏文,梵文天城体:ओम् आः हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ āḥ hūṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡啊吽)', fire blazes from the short 'A (藏文,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿)', heating the skull cup, and the corpse inside melts into the nature of nectar with a 'soro ro' sound, boiling and overflowing from the mouth of the skull cup, and all impurities and defilements are expelled as foam and scum. The vapor touches the syllable 'HAṂ (藏文,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思: ㄏㄨㄥ)', causing the syllable 'HAṂ (藏文,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思: ㄏㄨㄥ)' to also heat up, and a stream of white and red nectar descends, mixing inseparably, and finally the syllable 'HAṂ (藏文,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思: ㄏㄨㄥ)' also melts into light and dissolves inseparably into the nectar of the skull cup. Then, contemplate that they merge inseparably. Recite 'PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体:फट्,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪!)', and speak of cherishing the body, etc. When one recites 'OṂ ĀḤ HŪṂ (藏文,梵文天城体:ओम् आः हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ āḥ hūṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡啊吽)', the syllable 'OṂ (藏文,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡)' purifies all faults of color, smell, taste, etc. The syllable 'ĀḤ (藏文,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:啊)' increases it greatly. The syllable 'HŪṂ (藏文,梵文天城体:हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽)' transforms it into whatever one desires, transforming it into the nectar of uncontaminated wisdom, a wish-fulfilling cloud of desires arises.
