Therefore, Jowo Lhachig (the Venerable One) said, "The Tibetans will not become rich; they are just making simple Torma offerings." Similarly, Jowo (the Venerable One) said, "In Tibet, accumulating merit requires only one cup of water. India has high standards, and there is no water as good as that in Tibet." Therefore, if one exerts effort, offering pure water as a merit offering will bring inconceivable benefits. The containers for the water offerings, such as the seven offering bowls, should be thoroughly cleaned. When arranging them, the spacing should be moderate, neither too wide nor too narrow. They should not be crooked or tilted, and the water should be free from grains, hair, dust, living creatures, and so on. It should not be less than full or too full, but beautiful and pleasing to the eye, placed on the altar without water stains or the like. Similarly, in the 'Bodhicharyavatara,' it says, 'With offerings that are supremely excellent and uniquely arranged.' Therefore, whatever the form of offering, even the arrangement and presentation should be beautiful and pleasing to the eye. If this is done, through respect for the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, one's accumulation of merit will be vast and complete, so one should strive in every way. Furthermore, even if one lacks wealth or ability, it does not mean that one cannot offer with a pure mind, or that one cannot offer impure or inferior things. Because the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have no attachment to cleanliness. There is the story of the poor beggar woman who offered a lamp to the Bhagavan, and the story of a leper woman who begged and obtained a fruit, which she offered to the great Shravaka Kashyapa. When a bee fell into the fruit, and he tried to remove it, the leper woman's finger also fell into the fruit, but Kashyapa ate it to fulfill her wish. Thus, she also obtained a day's sustenance, and the leper woman was delighted and was reborn in the heaven of the Thirty-Three. Therefore, when offering a mandala, one should also offer with a pure mind, making whatever one can offer clean and pleasing to the eye. This is of utmost importance. Such methods of accumulating merit, such as offering mandalas, should not be abandoned at any stage of the path.

is the practice. It is also said in the tantras: "Without accumulating merit, there is no accomplishment. Squeezing sand does not produce butter." Hoping for accomplishment without accumulating merit is like squeezing sand from a riverbank to extract oil. Even if hundreds and thousands of grains of sand are squeezed, not even a hair's breadth of oil will be obtained. Desiring accomplishment from accumulating merit is like squeezing sesame seeds to extract oil. The more sesame seeds are squeezed, the more sesame oil will be obtained. Even if a single sesame seed is squeezed on a fingernail, it will cover the entire fingernail with oil. Similarly, desiring accomplishment without accumulating merit is like churning water to obtain butter, while desiring accomplishment after accumulating merit is like churning milk to obtain butter. It is said. Therefore, the ultimate supreme accomplishment is the unerring result of the completion of the two accumulations. Without completing the accumulation of merit and wisdom, there is no way to attain the Buddha-fruit of twofold purity, as has been explained before. Lord Nagarjuna said: "By this virtue, may all beings complete the accumulations of merit and wisdom, and may they quickly attain the two noble bodies arising from merit and wisdom." By completing the accumulation of merit with focus, one obtains the noble form body, and by completing the accumulation of wisdom without focus, one obtains the noble dharma body. Similarly, all temporary worldly accomplishments also arise from the completion of accumulations. If one does not accumulate merit oneself, no matter how much effort one puts in, it is of no benefit. For example, even with regard to immediate enjoyment of food and wealth, some wealthy people, due to past accumulations, naturally have a continuous flow of wealth even without making any effort. Others, even if they devote their entire lives to engaging in various methods such as trade and agriculture to accumulate wealth, do not gain even a sesame seed's worth of benefit, and ultimately die from famine, etc. This is evident. Similarly, if one practices deities of wealth and protectors of the Dharma in order to desire accomplishment, but one does not have the fruits of generosity accumulated in the past, they will not be able to bestow it. In the past, there was a hermit who was poor in livelihood, and he practiced the oath-bound deity, and it was actually accomplished, and he acted as if he did not speak to people, but
