In order to secure good opportunities in future lives, be content with simple meals and worn-out clothes. Similarly, those who strive only for this life are called "childlike friends," because they help others but harm themselves, are ungrateful, and can never be satisfied or pleased no matter what you do. If others are better than them, they become jealous; if they are better than others, they look down on them. The longer you associate with them, the more non-virtue increases and virtue decreases, so stay far away from them. Relying on trade, agriculture, industry, and knowledge, etc., associating with many people, and being distracted by many affairs is called busyness. It is always hectic and trivial, no matter how hard you try it is meaningless, enemies can never be conquered, and relatives can never be fully cared for. Abandon all activities and distractions that can never be completed, like spitting out dust. Turn your back on your homeland, embrace foreign lands, live in rock caves, befriend wild animals, entrust your body and mind to fate, rely on food, clothing, and speech, and spend your life in uninhabited wildernesses. As the venerable Milarepa said: In the rock cave of a deserted valley, there is no time to be free from sorrow and weariness. Towards the gurus and Buddhas of the three times, the mind is filled with longing and never separated. If you act like this, meditation will arise even in a place of sorrow. It is said that, therefore, renunciation and aversion, faith and pure vision, meditation and samadhi, and all the qualities of the path will arise spontaneously. So, you must strive to do this. Therefore, a secluded forest is a place where the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the past also attained peace, free from bustle and distraction, without trade or agriculture, far from childish friends, happy to be with birds and beasts, where water and leaves are suitable for the food of ascetics, where intelligence is naturally clear, and where samadhi naturally increases. There, there are no enemies, no relatives, and liberation from the bonds of attachment and aversion, it is a place endowed with many qualities. What need is there to say more about actually going to live in such a secluded place? Even just thinking about going to such a secluded place, even taking seven steps in that direction,

It is more beneficial than offering to all the Buddhas in the ten directions for as many eons as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River. The Buddha Bhagavan said so in the Sutra of the Moon Lamp and others. In such a place, as it is said, "In the supreme solitary mountain retreat, all conduct is virtuous." Even if one does not deliberately strive to do good, all the qualities of the path, such as renunciation, weariness, love, and compassion, will arise spontaneously, and all conduct will naturally become purely virtuous. All the attachment, hatred, and afflictions that cannot be stopped even if one tries hard in a busy place will naturally diminish as soon as one arrives in a solitary place. It is easy to cultivate all the qualities of the path in one's own mind. These are the preliminary practices of meditation, so they are very important and indispensable. There are three kinds of actual meditation: the meditation of a child's practice, the meditation of discriminating meaning, and the meditation of the Tathagata's goodness. When one is attached to the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, and deliberately seeks it, meditating with the stain of attachment to experience, it is called the meditation of a child's practice. When one is free from attachment to experience, and even if one has not experienced the taste of meditation, one meditates with attachment to the aspect of the antidote to emptiness, it is called the meditation of discriminating meaning. When one is free from the mind of the antidote to emptiness, and abides in the samadhi of the non-conceptual nature of reality, this is called the meditation of the Tathagata's goodness. Therefore, at all times of meditating, it is important to do the seven-point posture of Vairochana as the key point of the body, and the way of looking as the key point of the eyes. If the body is straight, the channels are straight; if the channels are straight, the wind is straight; if the wind is straight, the mind is straight. Therefore, do not sleep or slouch, but straighten the body upright, do not think of anything in the mind, and abide in the state of not grasping anything, which is the essence of the perfection of wisdom. Sixth, the perfection of wisdom has three aspects: the wisdom of hearing, the wisdom of thinking, and the wisdom of meditation. First, the wisdom of hearing is: the teacher speaks all the words and meanings of the Dharma, and one listens and understands what is said as it is.
