May it all be fulfilled! May my happiness and the fruits of virtue be completely transferred to him! Thinking this from the depths of my heart, and actually practicing it as well. For example, like Jowo's lama Maitreya Yogi, and Rakshita, and our teacher Shakyamuni, appearing as the incarnation of King Padma, appearing as a turtle, and appearing as King Crown Jewel, and so on. Among them, when Jowo's lama Maitreya Yogi was teaching the Dharma, someone threw a stone at a dog. The lama said "Anana" and fell from the throne. The others thought he was just pretending to care about the dog. The lama knew this and showed his back, where the area where the dog was hit was swollen. Everyone believed it. He actually took on the pain of the dog being hit. Similarly, Lama Rakshita was initially a Hinayana Sarvastivada pandita. Although he had not heard the Mahayana Dharma in this life before, Because he abided in the Mahayana lineage, he naturally possessed great compassion. Near where he lived, a person was afflicted with a serious illness. The doctor said, "This illness requires the flesh of a living person to be cured, but it cannot be found. There is no other way." That person said, "If it will help, I will give it." Then he cut off his own thigh flesh and gave it to him. The patient ate the flesh and was cured. Because he had not realized emptiness, he was in great pain, but because of his great compassion, he did not regret it. When asked if the patient was better, the patient said, "My illness is better, but it has caused you trouble." He said, "If you are well, I am willing to die." Because it was so painful, he couldn't sleep at all. At dawn, he fell asleep for a short while, and in a dream, a white person appeared and said, "If you want to attain Bodhi, you must endure suffering like this. Good, good." Then he licked the wound with his tongue and wiped it with his hand, and even the scar disappeared. When he woke up, it was really gone. That person must have been a great compassionate one. After that, he realized the true nature of reality as it is, and realization arose in his mind. He often recited the words of the verses from Arya Nagarjuna's 'Collection of Reasoning on the Middle Way'. Also, the previous Thubpa (Shakyamuni Buddha) was once reborn as King Padma.

At one time, a great plague broke out in his territory, and many people died. The king asked the doctors, "What can be done to cure this?" They replied, "This disease can be cured if there is meat from the Rohita fish. We don't know of anything else that can help, as we are obscured by the shadow of the disease." The king thought the time had come, so on an auspicious morning, he bathed, put on new clothes, took vows, made great offerings to the Three Jewels, and prayed fervently, "May I be reborn immediately after death as a Rohita fish in the river that reverses its flow!" After praying in this way, he jumped from a thousand-cubit-high palace. Immediately, he was transformed into that fish in that river and was born. Then, in human language, he said, "I am the Rohita fish, take my flesh and eat it!" So everyone took his flesh. When the flesh on one side was exhausted, they turned it over and cut it. When the flesh on one side was exhausted, the flesh on the other side grew back. In this way, they ate in turn, and all the sick people were cured. Then, he said to everyone, "I am your king, Padma. In order to save you from disease, I sacrificed my life and was born as a Rohita fish. In return for my kindness, please abandon evil and do whatever good you can!" They also did as he said. From then on, they never fell into the lower realms again. Furthermore, when this Thubpa (Shakyamuni Buddha) was born as a great turtle, five hundred merchants went to sea, and their ship sank, facing death. The turtle said in human language, "All of you climb on me, and I will save you." So it carried all the merchants and saved them. It was exhausted and fell asleep on the seashore. Eighty thousand mosquitoes sucked its blood. When it woke up and looked, it saw many mosquitoes. If it went into the water or turned over, the mosquitoes would die. So it stayed there and sacrificed its life. In the time of the Buddha, those mosquitoes were reborn as eighty thousand gods and listened to the Dharma, and they saw the truth. Also, this Thubpa was born in a place called Shakeda as the son of a king named Golden Crown and a queen named Beautiful Delightful. On his head was a precious wish-fulfilling jewel that dripped nectar, and when it touched iron, it had the inherent ability to turn iron into gold.
