Having attained the position, wishing to establish all sentient beings on the ground of Buddhahood is like the mind of a king. Just as those called "boatmen" wish to take themselves and all the people on the boat together to the other side of the river, wishing to attain the complete Buddhahood together with oneself and all sentient beings is like the mind of a boatman. The herdsmen first find grass and water for the cattle and sheep, and drive them forward without being harmed by fleas, etc. It is like following behind them. First, establish all sentient beings of the three realms on the ground of complete Buddhahood, and then attain Buddhahood oneself. There are three types. The first, like a king, is called the mind of great desire, which is the lowest of intelligence. The second, like a boatman, is called the mind of supreme wisdom, which is of medium intelligence, like the mind of the venerable Maitreya. The mind like a shepherd is called the incomparable mind, which is endowed with great intelligence, like the mind of the venerable Manjushri. Differentiating by stages, in the path of accumulation and the path of joining, it is the mind of practice with aspiration. From the first to the seventh bhumi, it is the mind of pure intention. In the three pure bhumis, it is the mind of complete maturation. In the Buddha bhumi, it is the mind of abandoning obscurations, there are four types. Differentiating by the nature of the mind itself, there are two types: conventional bodhicitta and ultimate bodhicitta. Conventional bodhicitta also has two internal distinctions: aspiring bodhicitta and engaging bodhicitta. As it is said in the Bodhicaryavatara: Just as one knows the difference between wanting to go and going, so should the wise gradually know the difference between these two. For example, when someone wants to go to Lhasa, first thinking "I want to go to Lhasa", just like that, first I want to make all sentient beings attain the complete Buddhahood, like wanting to go is aspiring bodhicitta. The actual preparation for going to Lhasa and mules, etc.

Just as one puts on armor and actually embarks on a path, in order to enable all sentient beings to attain the state of perfect and complete enlightenment, one gives generously, observes moral discipline, cultivates patience, exerts diligence, abides in meditative concentration, and contemplates and cultivates wisdom. Like actually walking, this is the practice of entering the six perfections. Wishing for such a mind of enlightenment and engaging in such a mind of enlightenment, both of these are the conventional mind of enlightenment. In the paths of accumulation and preparation, relying on such a mind of enlightenment, through the power of long-term cultivation, finally, in the path of seeing, directly realizing the reality of all phenomena, that is, the meaning of emptiness, the wisdom free from all elaborations, is the ultimate mind of enlightenment. The mind of enlightenment characterized by the ultimate truth must be attained through the power of meditation, and therefore does not depend on rituals. Here, beginners rely on the ritual of the conventional mind of enlightenment, so they should receive the ritual of generating the mind of enlightenment as if receiving it from a lama. In order to ensure that the mind of enlightenment thus obtained does not diminish and increases further, it must be taken again and again in all times and circumstances. That is, in the space in front, visualize all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas as the principal deities of generating the mind of enlightenment, clearly appearing like the field of merit for refuge. Like this, all these sentient beings pervading the limits of space, from beginningless lifetimes, there is not a single one who has not been one's own parent. When they were parents, like present parents, they nurtured with various precious things, gave the essence of food, covered with the edges of clothes, it is certain that they were all kind benefactors who nurtured and raised with great love. Like this, all those kind parents are drowning in the great ocean of suffering of samsara, obscured by the thick darkness of ignorance, not knowing what is the path and non-path of what should and should not be done. Separated from the virtuous friend who is the guide of the correct path, without protection and help, without guardians and allies, and without reliance and refuge, like a blind person wandering in an empty wilderness without companions, what is the use of leaving all those old mothers in this place of samsara and attaining liberation alone? Therefore, I, for the sake of all sentient beings,
