A wealthy man and seven others set out on a boat. When the boat had traveled about a quarter of the way across the water, the boatman said that the boat was too heavy, and if someone knew how to swim, it would be good, otherwise he would fall into the water, and one of you should row. But everyone could neither swim nor row. The wealthy man said, rather than everyone dying together, it would be better for me to die alone, and jumped into the water. As soon as he jumped in, a rainbow appeared and a rain of flowers fell. Although he could not swim, he reached the opposite shore and did not die. Although he had not practiced Dharma before, he had such a benefit from simply generating a good thought. If the mind is evil, how bad will the land and the road become! Once, a beggar was sleeping at the city gate, repeatedly thinking: If this king dies and I become king, how wonderful that would be. The next morning, while he was still asleep, the king came riding in a chariot, and the wheel of the chariot ran over his neck and beheaded him. In general, if one does not grasp the essence of one's Dharma practice with mindfulness and awareness at all times, and does not examine one's own mind, then one will easily be driven by strong attachment and aversion, and create serious negative karma. That old beggar also generated such an impossible thought, so the result ripened immediately. How could the king, who was resting comfortably on a jeweled throne in the center of the palace, be beheaded for no reason? Even if the king were beheaded and died, the king's son would not inherit the throne. The ministers, who are like tigers, leopards, bears, and brown bears, would not seize the throne. Why would that old beggar be allowed to rule the country? Therefore, if you do not carefully examine your own mind, you may generate such evil thoughts for no reason. Geshe Shawopa said: "Worldly affairs increase, but you do not protect the kingdom of your mind!" Furthermore, once, when the Bhagavan and the Sangha of monks were invited to a patron's house to receive alms, there were two beggars, one a Kshatriya boy and one a Brahmin boy. The Brahmin boy did not

Having begged upwards in this way, nothing was found. When the royal child took the bowl and begged, he found many leftovers and good food in the bowl. The two of them talked in the middle of the road in the afternoon. The royal child said: If I had any wealth and enjoyment, I would offer clothes and food to the Blessed One and his retinue for as long as I live, and I would serve and respect them with all kinds of utensils. The Brahmin child said: If I had any power and became the king of the country, I would cut off the head of that bald-headed ascetic and his retinue from the root. Later, the royal child went to another place and sat in the shade of a large tree. The shade of other trees moved away, but the shade where the child was remained. The king of that country died and had no son, so everyone said that whoever had the greatest merit and power would be made king, and they searched everywhere. Seeing that the child was still sleeping in the shade even after noon, they woke him up and placed him on the throne. Later, he also offered to the Buddha and his retinue according to his own wishes. The Brahmin child was lying in a crossroads when he was hit in the neck by a runaway chariot and his head was cut off, there is also such a story. Therefore, if one always learns to have good thoughts, then in this life all the things one wishes for will be fulfilled as desired. The gods of the white side protect, and the Buddha and all the Bodhisattvas bless. Whatever one does will become good, and there will be no obstacles at the time of death. In the future, one will attain the status of gods and humans, and ultimately one will manifest the state of perfect Buddhahood. Therefore, instead of hastily not examining one's own mind and pretending to do great deeds such as prostrations, circumambulations, recitations, and mantras, it is always important to examine one's own mind and learn to have good thoughts. Secondly, regarding the actual generation of Bodhicitta, if we divide it according to the difference in the power of intelligence, there are three types: Kings first subdue all the armies of the enemy themselves, raise the strength of their own side, first make themselves king, and then, like wanting to rule the tribal territory, first let themselves attain the state of Buddhahood.
