Without regard for body and life, just as the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita relied on the Bodhisattva Dharmodgata, the great scholar Naropa relied on the supreme being Tilopa, and Jetsun Mila relied on Marpa of Lhodrak. How did the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita rely on Dharmodgata? In the past, when the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita was seeking the Perfection of Wisdom and went to a remote monastery, a voice came from the sky: 'Son of good family, go to the east, and you will hear the Perfection of Wisdom. Do not consider your body's fatigue, sleepiness, heat and cold, day and night, etc., and go without looking to the left or right. Before long, you will hear that the Perfection of Wisdom is contained in a book or is present in the body of a Dharma-speaking monk. At that time, son of good family, from whomever you hear the Perfection of Wisdom, generate the perception of a teacher and, with reverence for the Dharma, follow him like a shadow.' Even if one sees someone relying on the five qualities out of desire, one should understand that this is the skillful means of the Bodhisattvas and not be disbelieving. After hearing these words, he went to the east. Before he had gone far, he thought, 'I did not ask the voice how far I had to go, so I do not know where to go to see the one who teaches the Perfection of Wisdom.' Then he wept and wailed, thinking, 'I must persevere until I obtain the Perfection of Wisdom, without regard for fatigue, hunger, thirst, sleepiness, and day and night.' Like a mother who has lost her only child, he had no other thought in his mind, longing for when he would hear the Perfection of Wisdom. At that time, a manifestation of the Tathagata appeared before him and spoke verses about seeking the Dharma: 'Five hundred yojanas from here to the east, there is a city called Gandhavati, made of seven precious jewels, surrounded by five hundred pleasure gardens, possessing all excellent qualities. In the middle of the city's crossroads, there is a house of the Bodhisattva Dharmodgata, made of seven precious jewels, with a circumference of one yojana, possessing complete enjoyments such as gardens. The Bodhisattva's mind

The great hero Dharmavijaya, together with his retinue of sixty-eight thousand women, Possessing and enjoying the five objects of desire, indulging in delightful and joyous pleasures. There, he teaches the Prajnaparamita of the three times to the assembly of beings. Go to him, and you will hear the Prajnaparamita from him. Having heard these words, he kept them in mind without any other thought, and in that very direction, he also heard the Bodhisattva Dharmavijaya teaching the Prajnaparamita. Many doors of Samadhi also became manifest. From the ten directions of the world, he also saw countless Buddhas teaching the Prajnaparamita. They taught the Dharma, praised the Bodhisattva Dharmavijaya, and then disappeared. Then, the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita developed joy, faith, and reverence for the Bodhisattva Dharmavijaya, and thought, "How should I go to the Bodhisattva Dharmavijaya? I am poor and have no clothes, jewels, incense, garlands, or other offerings to offer the Bodhisattva Dharmavijaya, nor do I have any means to serve a virtuous spiritual friend. I should sell my body and use the money from selling my body to make offerings to the Bodhisattva Dharmavijaya. From beginningless samsara, I have sold my body countless times, and due to desire, I have gone to the hell realms countless times, where my body has been killed, cut, and wasted, but not for the sake of the Dharma, nor for the sake of making offerings to such a holy being." Thinking these thoughts, he went to the center of the marketplace and shouted, "Who wants a person? Who wants to buy a person?" Although he shouted like this, because the evil Mara was jealous of the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita practicing austerities for the sake of the Dharma, no one heard his voice. Then, the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita, unable to find anyone to buy him, went to one side and sat down crying and weeping. At that time, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, wishing to examine the thoughts of Sadāprarudita, transformed himself into the form of a Brahmin boy and came to him, saying, "I do not need a person, but I am now performing a sacrifice and need human flesh and

Saying that human oil and human legs were needed, he said, "If you sell them, I will give you a reward." Ever Weeping was delighted and, taking a sharp knife, pierced his right hand and drew blood. He also cut the flesh off his right thigh and went to the wall to break the bone. Then, a merchant's daughter saw him from the house upstairs and came to him, saying, "Good son, why do you inflict such pain on yourself?" He then told the story of selling his body to make offerings to the Bodhisattva Dharmadhvaja. She said, "What merit do you gain by honoring him so much?" He said, "That will show the Bodhisattvas' skillful means and the perfection of wisdom. If you learn it, you will attain omniscience, possess many qualities of the Buddha, and distribute the precious Dharma to all sentient beings." She said, "For such qualities, it would be worth giving away bodies as numerous as the sands of the Ganges for each quality. However, do not inflict such pain on yourself. Whatever you need to make offerings to the Bodhisattva Dharmadhvaja, I will give you. I will also go with you to the Bodhisattva Dharmadhvaja, and to gain those qualities, I will plant roots of virtue." Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, revealed his form and said to Ever Weeping, "I am Indra, the lord of the gods, and I have come to examine your mind. Ask for whatever you want." He said, "Please grant me the unsurpassed qualities of the Buddha." Indra said, "That is not my domain, I cannot give it." Ever Weeping said, "Then, you do not need to strive to make my body complete, for I will bless it with the truth. By the truth that I have been prophesied by the Buddhas to be irreversible, and by the truth and true words of my unwavering superior intention, may my body return to its original state." As soon as he said this, his body returned to its original state. Indra also disappeared. After that, Ever Weeping went with the merchant's daughter.
