I think it is a great fault to spend time with the three poisons of attachment, hatred, and delusion for the sake of external wealth and relatives. Similarly, fearing to meet enemies, one spends time constantly busy with daytime vigilance, nighttime watch, and continuous livelihood, but to no avail. All enjoyment and wealth will eventually be shared with enemies. Day robbers, night thieves, wolves, and wild animals suddenly come to harm. In general, the more enjoyment and wealth there is, the more suffering there is in accumulating, guarding, and increasing them. As the venerable Nagarjuna said, "Accumulating, guarding, and increasing, exhausting the mind and being extremely tired, know that wealth is like a root of misfortune, growing endlessly without limit." Jetsun Milarepa also said, "Wealth is initially self-enjoyment and others envy, no matter how much there is, there is no contentment, in the middle it is bound by the knot of stinginess, one is unwilling to spend it on virtuous deeds, it is the bait of enemies and demons, what one accumulates is enjoyed by others, and in the end it becomes a life-threatening demon, accumulating wealth for enemies, the heart is unbearable, abandoning the bait of samsara, I do not want the deception of demons." As it is said, the more wealth, the more suffering. For example, even if there is only one horse, one will worry about it being taken by enemies, stolen by thieves, and worry about not having grass, etc. There are many sufferings as big as a horse. Similarly, even if there is only one sheep, there is suffering as big as a sheep. Even if there is only one teapot, there will definitely be suffering as big as a teapot. "Without wealth, one is separated from enemies," as it is said, without wealth, one is separated from enemies, so it is happiness. Therefore, one should completely cut off attachment to enjoyment and wealth, as in the biographies of past Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, rely on begging for a living, and practice only the sacred Dharma. As for the suffering of fearing separation from loved ones: all sentient beings in samsara are attached to their own side, hate the other side, and always favor relatives, dependents, relatives, and friends. For their sake, they endure all kinds of suffering. However, this relationship with relatives and dependents is also impermanent and of the nature of separation. Most

When (relatives) die in large numbers or wander to other places, threatened by enemies and harm, the suffering is even greater than if it happened to oneself. In particular, parents love and grieve for their children, fearing they will freeze, fearing they will starve, fearing they will thirst, fearing they will get sick, fearing they will die. Their love for their children is such that they would rather die in their place, and they only feel heartache for them, so they suffer. Similarly, they also fear separation from relatives and close people, and experience suffering. But if you look closely, relatives are not necessarily relatives. Parents and others think they love their children, but the way they love them is reversed and confused, ultimately causing harm. They give wealth and enjoyment, and welcome a wife as a lifelong companion, thus connecting them to the bonds of samsara. They teach them many unwholesome ways of acting, such as how to conquer enemies, how to maintain relatives, and how to develop enjoyment, making it impossible for them to escape from the depths of the lower realms. There is no greater harm than this. Sons and daughters, etc., first take away the essence of the body, then take away the food in the mouth, and finally take away the wealth in the hand. They only give love to them, but they are attacked in return. They spend their whole lives disregarding sin, suffering, and bad reputation, and give all the wealth and enjoyment they have accumulated to them, but they do not receive the slightest gratitude. The joy of giving a cup of tea to an ordinary person is not the same as giving priceless wealth to one's own son. They only think, "My father's property is mine anyway." Sons, daughters, etc., also fight over their own property, and they are not grateful for what they are given, and they ask for more even after they have been given something. They even ask for and take away a good turquoise from the counter of the rosary. If they are good, they can increase the wealth of others, but they are of no benefit to themselves. If they are bad, they will tarnish the reputation of their parents and suffer. Other relatives are also like this: when you are rich, happy, and prosperous, they all treat you like a god, and they do everything they can to help you, giving you wealth and enjoyment even when you don't need it. When you are in decline, even if you have not made any mistakes, they will treat you like an enemy, and they will repay your kindness with harm. Therefore, sons, daughters, relatives, and close people have no meaning at all. This is what Lord Milarepa said.
