Sa! Since it is extremely difficult to obtain a human body, O King, may you achieve its fruit by practicing the sacred Dharma. Thus he advised King Delightful Conduct. Shantideva also said: Like a turtle's neck fitting into a yoke's hole adrift on the vast ocean, it is said that human existence is extremely difficult to find. As it is said. Furthermore, like the example of throwing peas against a smooth wall, it is difficult for them to stick, and like the example of piling peas on an upward-pointing needle, it is difficult for even one pea to stick. It should be understood by examples such as those spoken of in the Nirvana Sutra. Fourth, contemplating the difference in numbers: Compared to the number and order of sentient beings, obtaining a human body is only a slight possibility. Thus, hell beings are like the stars at night, hungry ghosts are like the stars in the daytime, hungry ghosts are like the stars at night, animals are like the stars in the daytime, animals are like the stars at night, and happy realms are only like the stars in the daytime, it is said. Furthermore, hell beings are like the dust of the great earth, hungry ghosts are like the sand of the Ganges River, animals are like the dregs of beer, asuras are like a blizzard, and gods and humans are only like the dust on a fingernail, it is said. In general, a body in the higher realms is rare, and even rarer than that is a human body with leisure and opportunity. Even if we examine it ourselves now, in the summer season, there are living beings on almost every patch of land, and the number of ants in a single anthill is more than the number of people in the world. The difference between the number of humans and animals is obvious. Among humans, if we consider the number of beings in border regions without the light of the teachings, then people born in places where the sacred Dharma flourishes are extremely rare. And even rarer than that is a human body endowed with leisure and opportunity. Thinking about these things, we should cultivate joy in having found genuine leisure and opportunity. Thus, if all the qualities of leisure and opportunity are fully present, then it can be called a precious human body, and it is manifest from this day forward. If these are not complete, even if one is intelligent and clever in worldly matters, it is not a precious human body, but an ordinary human body, or called a common person, or called a useless person, or called a heartless person, or called a wasteful person, like wasting a wish-fulfilling jewel that has been obtained, or a precious

It is like returning empty-handed from a golden island. As it is said: Obtaining this precious human body, It is like finding a wish-fulfilling jewel. Those without regret, Have you seen them wasting their time? Meeting the noble lama, It is like obtaining a kingdom. Those without faith and respect, Have you seen them walking together with him? Receiving the vows of bodhicitta, It is like obtaining the position of a leader. Those without compassion, Have you seen them throwing stones? Obtaining the empowerment of the tantras, It is like obtaining the position of a universal monarch. Those without vows, Have you seen them pouring it into water? Seeing the true nature of mind, It is like seeing the Buddha. Those without perseverance, Have you seen them falling into confusion? So it is said. Such leisure is not accidental, Nor is it a fluke. It is the result of accumulating the two accumulations for many kalpas. Panchen Drakpa Gyaltsen said: Obtaining this leisure and human body, It is not because of high birth, But it is the result of accumulating merit. Just obtaining a human body, but without the light of Dharma, only engaging in non-virtuous deeds, is worse than falling into the lower realms. As Lord Milarepa said: To Kyira Gonpo Dorje, generally speaking, leisure and human body are rare, but seeing someone like you, there is nothing rare. Like this, there is nothing more capable than a human being to be a stepping stone to hell. Since now, in any case, there is autonomy, as it is said: If good, this body is the boat of liberation, If bad, this body is the stone of samsara, This body is the servant of all good and evil. Therefore, by the power of the merit accumulated in the past, now we have obtained this human body with eighteen leisures and endowments. If we do not obtain the essence of the holy Dharma from it, but waste this leisure in the pursuit of food and clothing in this life, and the eight worldly dharmas, then at the time of death, beating one's chest and stamping one's feet is not having generated good thoughts, not having planned well. As it is said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: Having obtained such leisure, If I do not practice virtue, Then there is no deception greater than this, Then there is no ignorance greater than this. So it is said. Therefore, this birth in this life is the ultimate
