Because it is the Dharma of perfect excellence, it is rare. Without regression, it is certain to be liberated from samsara, so it is renunciation, these four are the aspects of cessation. Constantly progressing upwards, so it is the path. Counteracting afflictions, so it is reason. Cultivating the mind without inversion, so it is cultivation. Permanently leading to the state of liberation and nirvana, so it is definitive liberation, these four are the aspects of the path. The meaning of the words is: not contradicting the teachings, so it is truth. Thus it is said, the characteristics of the four truths are like this, the meaning spoken by the Tathagata, as it is, from the perspective of the objects, the four truths themselves, there is no discrepancy, so from the perspective of the objects, it is said to be truth. If one understands the characteristics of the four truths as they are taught, then the wisdom of understanding is also without error, so from the perspective of the subject, it is said to be truth. Moreover, how the characteristics of the four truths exist, only the noble ones know, so they are established as the truths of the noble ones. Although ordinary beings have suffering, origin, etc., they do not understand their characteristics as they are, but rather grasp them in a reversed way, so they are not established as their truths. Fourth, the order is: established in conjunction with the order of realizing the path. As the Uttaratantra says: Disease is to be known, the cause of disease is to be abandoned, to obtain well-being, medicine is to be practiced. Suffering, its cause, its cessation, and the path, are to be known, abandoned, realized, and practiced. Thus, first knowing suffering, one generates renunciation towards samsara. Then, abandoning the origin of suffering, the cause of suffering, wanting to realize cessation, so it is established in conjunction with the order of relying on the path. Moreover, the cause of samsara is the origin, and its result is the truth of suffering, so these two are the aspects of pervasive defilement. The cause of nirvana is the truth of the path, and the result is the truth of cessation, these two are the aspects of complete purification. Also, in the chapter on the suffering of hell, when discussing lifespan, it says: The lifespan of the desire gods is equal to a day and night. Therefore, fifty human years are counted as one day of the Four Great Kings Heaven, and the five hundred-year lifespan of the gods is counted as one day of the Reviving Hell, and they can live for five hundred years.

Furthermore, eight hundred and sixteen hundred years are the thirty-three gods (referring to the Trayastrimsa Heaven in the six desire realms). The Heaven of No Strife, Tushita Heaven, the Heaven of Delight in Transformation, and the Heaven of Mastery over the Transformations of Others. Their lifespans, calculated by one day, are: one thousand years, two thousand years, four thousand years, eight thousand years, and sixteen thousand years. The Black Line Hell, the Crushing Hell, the Crying Hell, and the Great Crying Hell. The hot hells have lifespans calculated by one day as: one thousand years, two thousand years, four thousand years, eight thousand years, and sixteen thousand years. The Extremely Hot Hell can endure half a medium kalpa, and the Avici Hell can endure one medium kalpa. The lifespan of the cold hells is: using twenty khals (units of measurement) of sesame seeds from the country of Kosala, taking out one seed every hundred years until they are all gone, then the lifespan of the Blister Hell is complete, and the lifespans of the remaining hells are twenty times that of the Blister Hell. The sixteen surrounding hells are: the Pit of Excrement and Fire, the Mud of Rotting Corpses, the Forest of Swords, and the River of Impassability. There are four each in the east, south, west, and north, so there are sixteen surrounding hells. The Sword Mountain is in the southeast, and similarly, there is one each in the southwest, northwest, and northeast, so there are four in total. Similarly, some sutras say there is a Thorny Plain, but the Forest of Swords, the Thorny Plain, and the Sword Mountain are all types of weapons, so they are combined into one, and there are sixteen surrounding hells in total. The lifespan of the pretas (hungry ghosts) is generally calculated with the human month as one day for the pretas, and they can live for five hundred years, but the specific situation is uncertain. Also, the five signs of death for the gods are: The "Letter to a Friend" says: "Displeasure with the seat, garlands of flowers are old, clothes are stained with dirt, and the body emits a foul odor, which was not there before, these five signs hasten the death of the gods." This means that these are the five omens of death for beings in the heavenly realms. Below, we will discuss the five skandhas (aggregates) that are included in both suffering and the origin of suffering, divided into nature and classification. First, the nature is: that which can be damaged is the nature of the form skandha; feeling is the nature of the sensation skandha; grasping at characteristics is the nature of the perception skandha; the actions that arise from attachment to the four skandhas are the nature of the formation skandha; and knowing objects is the nature of the consciousness skandha. Second, the classification is: the form skandha can be divided into: causal form, which is the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind; and resultant form, which is the five sense organs, the five sense objects, and non-revealing form, totaling eleven.
