Skillful in means, like a virtuous friend, to accomplish only benefit at all times. Friendship is like the perfection of aspiration, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, to accomplish all desired things as desired. Friendship is like the perfection of strength, like the sun, to generate all the crops in the minds of those to be tamed. Friendship is like the perfection of wisdom, like a song, to teach the Dharma in accordance with everyone's mind. Friendship is like clairvoyance, like a king, to have complete freedom over all activities. Friendship is the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, like a treasury, to be the place of many accumulations of merit and wisdom. Friendship is the Dharma of the aspects of enlightenment, like a great path, to be the great path traveled and followed by the noble ones of the three times. Friendship is like calm abiding and insight, like a good vehicle, to travel the middle way without falling into either extreme. Friendship is like retention and fearlessness, like an inexhaustible river, to uphold the words and meanings of the Dharma without end and to proclaim them to others. Friendship is like a Dharma feast, like an echo, to teach the Dharma that makes those to be tamed arise with intention. Friendship is like the one path, like a river, to naturally flow into the ocean of omniscience. Friendship is like a mind endowed with the Dharmakaya, like a cloud, to show dwelling in places such as Tushita. Thus it is said. The boundaries of these are: the first three are the three of the accumulation path, application like fire is the path of application, then the ten perfections are the ten grounds of clairvoyance, the five pure grounds etc. are universally present in the three pure grounds, the Dharma feast etc. are only present in the tenth ground. Furthermore, when combined with the eighty inexhaustibles, intention to wisdom is the same as before, then the four immeasurables are like a virtuous friend, to desire to benefit at all times. The five clairvoyances are like a wish-fulfilling jewel, to obtain unobstructedness in accomplishing the benefit of others. Gathering things is like the sun, to make the crops of the minds of those to be tamed grow. Each individually, correctly

The four kinds of singing are like songs, because they teach the Dharma to tame sentient beings. The four reliances are like a king, because they are the place of trust for all. The two accumulations are like the three trainings of Shamatha-Vipassana in the north. Having dharani and eloquence is like a lotus, like clouds that endlessly pour down nectar, hearing in accordance with the Dharma, holding the words and meanings of the Dharma that have not been heard, and endlessly proclaiming them. Teaching the four seals of Dharma is like an echo, in order to teach the Dharma that is in accordance with the minds of sentient beings to be tamed. The remaining two are also the same. In total, there are eighty things mentioned here, because Bodhisattvas have inexhaustible wisdom, they are called eighty inexhaustibles, which come from the Sutra of Inexhaustible Intelligence. The others are easy to understand. The four reliances are: do not rely on provisional meaning, but rely on definitive meaning; do not rely on conventional truth, but rely on ultimate truth; do not rely on the individual, but rely on the Dharma; do not rely on consciousness, but rely on wisdom. Reliance means that which should be trusted. The four seals of Dharma are: all conditioned phenomena are impermanent; all contaminated phenomena are suffering; all phenomena are empty and without self; Nirvana is peace.
