From the fifth ground, like a mountain of meditation, unmoved by the distractions of signs. From the sixth ground, like the medicine of wisdom, pacifying the disease of the obscurations of affliction and knowledge. From the seventh, like a spiritual friend of skillful means, even small roots of virtue are inexhaustible, and for the sake of others, one can endure the suffering of the lower realms. From the eighth ground, like a wish-fulfilling jewel of aspiration, the desired fruit is accomplished. From the ninth ground, like the power of the sun, the harvest of virtue in the minds of those to be trained is ripened. From the tenth ground, like a song of wisdom, one teaches the Dharma that attracts those to be trained, and one especially practices. Like the king of clairvoyance, one accomplishes the benefit of others with unobstructed power. Like a treasury of the two accumulations, it is a treasury of great merit and wisdom. Like the great northern path, the Buddhas of the three times have gone. Like a good chariot of tranquility and insight, one goes on the path free from the two extremes. Like a river of eloquence and adornment of dharani, one remembers the words and meanings without forgetting, and one teaches others without obstruction, possessing inexhaustible qualities, these are the five special paths. Some consider this to be the special path of all ten grounds, some consider it to be the three pure grounds, and some consider it to be the special path of the tenth ground. Like the lute of the feast of Dharma, one sweetly proclaims to those to be trained who desire liberation. Like a river of the single path, one naturally enters into benefiting others without discrimination. Like a cloud endowed with the Dharmakaya, abiding in the realm of Tushita, etc., by showing the twelve deeds, one ripens the harvest of those to be trained, these three are the actual ground of Buddhahood. Some consider this to exist in the practice, reality, and conclusion at the end of the continuum of the ten grounds. These also, like intention, etc., are companions, like grounds, etc., are examples, like being based on Dharma, etc., are in accordance with the Dharma, one should know how to apply them to everything. And on that particular path, one only especially practices these, but one should also know that they are mostly present in everything. Homage to the Dharma! Second, in receiving the instructions for purifying the mind, there is the general teaching of the instructions, and the specific explanation of the difficult to understand points. The first is, it is taught that one should know practice and truth, etc., there are four here: the nature of practice itself, the object of focus is the four truths, the support is the three jewels, and instructions on the cause of perfect practice. The first is the nature of practice.

The key is to cultivate all the twenty-two distinctions of Bodhicitta previously shown, with all conventional truths being like illusions, and ultimate truths being cultivated in a way that does not fixate on the three spheres. This is because it uses the means of the six perfections to benefit all sentient beings and attain the Dharmakaya, which can be attained, and is therefore more excellent than the cultivation of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Secondly, the instructions on the four truths as objects of focus: To prevent attachment to the truth of suffering as an object of knowledge, teach the emptiness of external objects such as form, and the inseparability of the wisdom perfection of the subject; To prevent attachment to the truth of origin as an object to be abandoned, teach that forms, etc., arising from contaminated causes are not established in arising, ceasing, and all purity; To prevent attachment to the truth of cessation as an object to be attained, teach that no dharma is established from form to enlightenment; To prevent attachment to the truth of the path as an object to be relied upon, teach that one should not truly observe diligence or non-diligence in the six perfections of the path, etc. Thirdly, the instructions on the three jewels as supports: To prevent attachment to relying on the Buddha for refuge, thinking that oneself is the teacher who knows all the objects to be saved, teach that the object and the subject are not established separately, and that the perfect wisdom that knows equality is the Buddha; To prevent attachment to the Dharma jewel, thinking that this is one's own path, teach that all the bases and antidotes, etc., that are the objects of the three wisdoms, have no true self-nature; To prevent attachment to the Sangha jewel, thinking that they are companions on the path, teach that even the non-returning noble Bodhisattvas are originally unborn. Fourthly, there are four instructions on the cause of perfect cultivation: abandoning the opposing factors of cultivation, not relying on other cultivation, perfecting all the qualities of cultivation, and teaching the ultimate cause of cultivation. The first is that the nature of cultivation is diligence, and what is to be abandoned is the three types of laziness. Among them, the first is to abandon attachment to comfort and teach diligence without attachment: If the happiness of body, speech, and mind arises, it is easy to become clearly attached to inferior states, so to eliminate this, one should know that body, speech, and mind have no nature to be attached to.
