Commentary on the Ornament of Clear Realization of Prajñāpāramitā. Commentary on the Ornament of Clear Realization of Prajñāpāramitā. This is the commentary on the Ornament of Clear Realization, a treatise on the instructions of the Prajñāpāramitā. Homage to the Buddha! To explain this Ornament of Clear Realization, a treatise on the instructions of the Prajñāpāramitā, there are three general points: the meaningful expressive title, the meaningful content expressed, and the explanation of the colophon stating who translated it. The first point has three aspects: the translation of the title, the explanation of the title, and the purpose of the title. The first is: In the Indian language, it is: Abhisamaya (梵文天城体:अभि समय,梵文罗马拟音:Abhisamaya,汉语字面意思:Clear Realization) and so on. In Tibetan, it is: Prajñāpāramitā and so on. The second is: Prajñāpāramitā is the root sutra, namely the three mother sutras, the extensive, intermediate, and concise, and the Eight Thousand Verses. If the Compendium is counted separately, it is included with them. Instructions are what make it easy to understand the meaning of the sutra. A treatise is: Generally, if considered from the perspective of definition, the words of the Victorious One are also treatises, as they have the explanation of taming the minds of disciples. This treatise was composed by the master of the ten bhūmis. The nature of a treatise is: The lesser vehicles consider the nature of name, sentence, and letter, the three aggregates, to be the essence of matter. According to the Mahāyāna, the appearance of name, sentence, and letter is consciousness. The words of the Buddha arise from the causal condition of the Buddha's wisdom and are the other-appearance of those to be tamed. Treatises below the ten bhūmis are related to the appearances of both self and others. Clear Realization is: The intention of those root sutras, the essential meaning directly revealed, namely emptiness, the ultimate truth, and the hidden meaning, namely the stages of clear realization, the latter of the two, namely the eight clear realizations. Ornament means: The ornament of nature is the beautiful body of the mother sutra, the ornament that enhances beauty is the seventy topics, and the ornament that clarifies meaning appears in this treatise, thus causing joy to the wise. Called is announcing the name. Third, the purpose of the title is: By explaining through the combination of Sanskrit and Tibetan, it makes one believe that this is a reliable source of Dharma. Incidentally, the branch of the completion of translation, namely the salutation of translation, is: To all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

"I prostrate!" This means that the sleep of ignorance is continuously dispelled, and the mind expands in knowledge of knowable things by destroying the darkness of unknowing with correct wisdom. As it says in the "Seventy Stanzas on Refuge": "Wisdom fully expands in knowledge; by destroying the darkness of delusion, the Buddha, like a lotus, fully blooms." Like this, I prostrate to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Secondly, regarding the content of the text, there are two parts: the act of engaging in composition and the nature of the text to be composed. The first part includes the offering and praise, which is a branch for generating joy in the beings to be tamed, and the necessity and connection, which is a branch for entering into the treatises of realized beings. The first is: from "Those who seek peace, the Hearers," etc., to "I prostrate." This indicates that the object of prostration is the three knowledges. That is, firstly, those Hearers and Solitary Realizers who seek peace, focusing solely on their own benefit. The method is the knowledge of all things—the aggregates, elements, and sense bases—as being empty of a self from the very beginning, and the knowledge of all things. The result is leading beings to the two near-peace states of the cessation of afflictions and suffering. Secondly, those Bodhisattvas who wish to benefit beings as long as they wander in samsara. The method is the knowledge of the three paths of Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Bodhisattvas as being unborn in ultimate reality, and as being the nature of cause and effect in conventional reality, thus knowing the path. The result is accomplishing the desired goals of higher realms and definite goodness for all beings in the world. Thirdly, the Sugatas, the complete and perfect Buddhas, who have completely abandoned all misconduct of body, speech, and mind, possessing the all-knowing wisdom that has realized that all phenomena are unborn, and who are endowed with all qualities, turn the wheel of Dharma, which possesses all aspects of the two truths, both definitive and interpretable. I prostrate to that mother of the three knowledges. Whose mother is she? She is the mother of the Buddhas, together with the assembly of Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Bodhisattvas. Secondly, the necessity and connection is: from "The path of all-knowingness," etc., to "is the necessity." Here there are four: the path of all-knowingness, which is the path of the Buddhas, and the remaining seven that it represents.
