I, for the learned, those who possess all knowledge, it is said that faith and so on are twofold; for the unlearned, the Arhat, the Pratyekabuddha, the Bodhisattva, and the Tathagata, it is said that they are threefold. The meaning of this is that the first is the Stream-enterer of the Hearers and the Bodhisattva's Adhimukticarya; the second is the abiding in the fruit of the Stream-enterer and the Bodhisattva's first bhumi and above; the third is the Arhat of the Hearers and the Solitary Realizers, and the tenth bhumi, and it is said that the Tathagata is destroyed. In the Compendium, it is said that the first is the path of application, the second is the path of seeing and meditation, and the third is the path of no more learning. However, it is said that the first has both contaminated and uncontaminated, so even though it is established from the path of application, it should be done within fifteen moments. If it is done according to the Great Vehicle, the first is Adhimukticarya, the second is the ten bhumis, and the third is the mastery of the Tathagata, which is also said from that. The second, the basis of the faculties, is the four elements and the form produced from the elements, etc., which operate without being different from the faculties. The third, the object of the faculties, is the six objects. The fourth, clinging to self, is: Clinging to self and clinging to what belongs to it, these two are made into one. It is said that these two are like a king and his ministers, meaning that there is the thought of being able to rule and being ruled in relation to self and what belongs to self. The second, where and how to stop, is that in the desire realm there are fourteen faculties of all afflictions that should be stopped, and in the form realm there are no male and female, suffering and unhappiness, so there are ten, and in the formless realm, the five forms and happiness and pleasure are abandoned, and there are life, mind, and equanimity, so stop those. In the basis of the faculties and the object of the faculties, everything is present in the desire realm, and in the form realm, the two, smell and taste, are abandoned, and in the formless realm, the object of the faculties is only dharma, and the basis of the faculties is, as the Abhidharmakosha says: "In that realm and in life, the continuum of mind is the basis." In that realm and in the life faculty, the continuum of mind is the basis. Thus, it is said in the two great commentaries and the Pramanavarttika that the similar and the life faculty are stopped. However, these two are the basis, which is the assertion of the Vaibhashikas, so it is stopped in the commentary on the Abhidharmakosha. Self and what belongs to self are also present in all three realms. Some say that the object is not stopped, but only the attachment to the object is stopped, but for self and what belongs to self, it is attachment, and for the rest, it is the nature of attachment and contaminated faculties, etc.

Both are prevented, and it is also said in the commentaries that empowerment, etc., are prevented. It is also said that when the path of seeing is attained, all aggregates, elements, and sources of evil destinies are abandoned. Third, as a reason, which is it, equipoise or subsequent attainment? Answer: Although it appears as grasper and grasped, it is pure because it has the aspect of not manifestly clinging to it. Because it is included by the mind after rising from equipoise, it is worldly. The result that is in accordance with equipoise itself and the object aspect is the sixteen terms of body and speech that become the object of realization of other people. So, is it contradictory to say that the wisdom of equipoise itself is the reason, such as these sixteen moments? There is no fault. Because when these sixteen moments included by forbearance and knowledge are completely attained, in order to generate the subsequent attainment terms from the reversal of perception of form, etc., to giving up life for the sake of Dharma, it is therefore naming the cause with the name of the result. Thus, among the three dharmas that are spoken of as reasons by naming the sixteen behaviors of subsequent attainment with the sixteen wisdoms of equipoise, the reason for applying the name is the two of similarity and relation. Among them, relation is taken as the reason, because it is the result of equipoise. The need for applying the name is: in order to know that the body and speech terms of the noble yogis are in all respects only in accordance with the realization of equipoise. So, are these two necessarily in accordance? Answer: As it says in the "Inquiry of Strong Arms": 'Whose nature is free from attachment and aversion, yet shows attachment to those with attachment, and shows anger to those who are angry in order to subdue the wicked, I prostrate to the supreme abode of enlightenment.' Thus, except for the need or intention to show disagreement in order to subdue some sentient beings who have attachment and aversion, everything else is certain. The harm to the entity is: for subsequent attainment, it is closely taken with the name of the sixteen wisdoms, if it is said that subsequent attainment is the reason, it is not so, but if the actual equipoise as it is in the words is the reason, then, the equipoise of the seer of the path is not the reason for making others believe that the seer of the path will not turn back, because it is the actual equipoise of the seer of the path. The pervasion exists, because the wisdom in the continuum of the noble yogi
