The moments of earth forbearance. Each yogi knows it themselves, others cannot know it. Third, what extends from the signs of the path of meditation: The sign of a meditator's non-regression is eight profound dharmata aspects. These are not contradictory in meaning, but the arising of the nature of manifest clinging, etc., these contradict each other, thus accomplishing meaning, that is, appearing as if contradictions are gathered, therefore it is profound. The eight realizations in equanimity and the subsequent terms that are consistent with it are the signs of a meditator's non-regression, as explained for the path of seeing. How does a meditator realize that those grounds are not contradictory? It is realized through the gate of liberation of the inconceivable attained by those with extreme clinging. Third, that person's stages of meditation are three: Relying on what causes Buddhahood, purifying both the support and the supported, and the cause of accomplishing meaning in the Buddha's field. First, relying on what causes Buddhahood is the union of samsara and nirvana as equality: Samsara's disharmony and the purifying antidote, both aspects are meditated upon as the nature of mere appearances or illusions, although they appear, they are without inherent existence, realizing that they are like dreams, therefore, one does not discriminate between samsara and nirvana as things to be accepted or rejected, therefore it is the equality of samsara and nirvana. From the root of the Middle Way: 'Whatever is the limit of nirvana, that is the limit of samsara; the difference between the two, even the slightest, does not exist.' Second, purifying both the support and the supported, which is the union of pure lands: purifying one's own sentient being world to become a Buddha, and likewise, the container world is impure with thorns, etc., and there, accomplishing the pure Buddha field, these are the two. On the path of solitary places in the world, and when famine and disease are together, seeing it without fear, and then putting on clothes, constantly striving for the later limit and being very wise, one does not generate even a speck of mind of complete weariness. The solitary place is the solitary place of water and famine. Third, the cause of accomplishing meaning in the Buddha's field, which is the union of skillful means, has three aspects: the object of union, the nature of the union with an object, and their individual distinctions. First, the object of union is: sunlight and eighty-four liberations, and the northern direction.

There are seven or ten sections, and in "Le Mang," there are ultimately nine, along with power and non-mixture, etc., as stated in the context. Second, the nature of the union with an object is: When a great Bodhisattva individually realizes emptiness, which is endowed with all supreme aspects, he does not think and discriminate, 'I should manifest it.' He does not think and discriminate, 'It should be manifested.' Rather, he thinks and discriminates, 'I should make it completely familiar.' Thus, it is said. The meaning is that wisdom makes all phenomena familiar, but compassion does not manifest the fruits of those phenomena for oneself. Therefore, the practice of not abiding in either extreme is the union with an object, as previously explained. Without entering into samadhi, compassion enters into the realm of sentient beings. Even during that time, one does not completely fall away from the Buddha's teachings. Thus, it is said. Third, the individual distinctions are: There are ten kinds of skillful means of union. What are those ten? Skillful means that transcend the enemies of the four maras and the two grounds is to completely transcend the obstructing dharmas of union. Similarly, at that time, a wise Bodhisattva also generates great compassion for all sentient beings, and having completely transcended the four maras and the two grounds, abides in supreme samadhi and does not touch enlightenment. It is said that, for example, when a man skilled in all arts goes to a solitary monastery, he can overcome all attacks from outsiders. In the Sunlight Sutra, it is said that Bodhisattvas can help sentient beings under their care to overcome obstacles. Here, if we analyze the four maras a little, we should understand them from three aspects: recognizing the essence, the reason for establishing them as four, and the way in which they are established. First, recognizing the essence is: In the Hearer's Ground, it is said that the Mara of the aggregates is the five aggregates of appropriation. The Mara of afflictions is the afflictions that exist in the three realms. The Mara of death is when sentient beings die from this or that category. The Mara of the son of the gods is when the sons of the gods born in the desire realm, who have obtained power, come near in order to obstruct and distract those who strive diligently in virtuous practices in order to completely transcend the Mara of the aggregates, the Mara of afflictions, and the Mara of death. This is the Mara of the son of the gods.
