Following the previous view is the correct view, which is an aspect of the noble path. The remaining ones, such as "correct noble," etc., should also be applied analogously. Generally, these (eightfold path) are usually used by those in the post-attainment worldly state to sever the realization during the samadhi of the path of seeing, so they must be established in the path of meditation. However, when establishing them in the path of seeing, even if the actual correct view does not arise in the samadhi of the path of seeing, it is established as having attained it because one has obtained the powerful ability to generate it. The determination of the aspects of the realization attained through the correct view, and the correct realization that enters into the meaning of the scriptures such as the Sutra of Distinctions, and the correct speech that is free from the karma of lying, etc., and the karma's end that is free from the karma of killing, etc., and the correct livelihood that is free from the karma of hypocrisy, etc., of both body and speech. Here, regarding both realization and speech, the commentary on the Madhyantavibhaga states that if combined with the path of seeing, it should be understood as obtaining the power to generate them in samadhi. Without being weary for a long time, but cultivating correct effort as an antidote to the obscuration of knowledge or the abandonment of cultivation, and without forgetting the reasons for calm abiding, insight, and equanimity, therefore, in order to manifest the path of calm abiding and insight, cultivating correct mindfulness as an antidote to the obscuration of sinking and excitement, and cultivating correct concentration as an antidote to the obscuration that hinders the accomplishment of special qualities such as clairvoyance. As the Ornament of Realization says: "How after that, does arising follow realization? Truly realizing the distinctions, entering into the distinctions, the three karmas are utterly pure, the knowable is pure, and the path, and special qualities, are cultivated as antidotes." Here, the "three karmas are utterly pure" refers to the three: speech, karma's end, and livelihood, which are considered to be the karma of body and speech that is free from the faults of body and speech. For these two, the Vaibhashikas consider them to be the nature of form, but Acharya Dignaga, in his commentary on the Treasury and in the Differentiation of Karma Accomplishment, refuted this view and established them on the mind, so these should be understood as acting on consciousness, not on matter. The result is the abandonment of what is to be abandoned by cultivation. These eight limbs can also be condensed into four limbs, namely:

It is a branch that completely accomplishes the realization of Samadhi; being motivated by realization and making it known through speech, it is a branch of making known; speaking with words, purifying the view with excellent speech, and not doing what is not to be done by the end of action, thus purifying the discipline, and having faith in the simplicity of resources by enjoying the Dharma robes and so on as they appear in life, these three are branches that make others have faith. By diligently abandoning the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation, by mindfulness abandoning the agitation and sinking of the near afflictions, and by the power of accomplishing special qualities such as the direct perception of Samadhi, it becomes an antidote to the opposing side, so these three are branches of the antidote. As the Madhyāntavibhāga says: "Accomplishment and knowledge, the three make others believe, the antidote to the opposing side, these are the eight branches of the path, view, discipline, simple resources, causing awareness in others, afflictions, near afflictions, antidote to the opposing side." Thus it is said. Secondly, there are six aspects of showing the nature of the path of knowledge: antidote, illusion, dwelling in happiness in this life, transcendence of the world, abandonment, and the path of the Buddha. First, the antidote path has three aspects of the three doors of liberation. That is, in general, although there are many ways to establish the three doors of liberation, according to the Abhidharmasamuccaya, the emptiness and selflessness of the aspects of the truth of suffering are emptiness because they are realized to be empty of other meanings and the nature of self; the eight aspects of the truth of cessation and the truth of the path are without characteristics because they are free from the conceptual thoughts of characteristics or without the antidote of separation; the impermanence and suffering of the truth of suffering, and the four aspects of the truth of origin, are without aspiration because they are understood as the basis of aversion. These three are also in order, clinging to the view of self and what belongs to self, the conceptual thoughts of characteristics which are the result of the view of the perishable aggregate, and the aspiration for the three realms, that is, the antidote to the three desires, hence it is the antidote path. That is, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness are said to be without distinction, which is a general teaching arising from the three of hearing, thinking, and meditating, and those spoken of in terms of Samadhi are both the mundane and the supramundane arising from meditation.
