The detailed distinctions are threefold: the antidote to afflictive obscurations is one path of the lesser vehicle's uncontaminated path; the antidote to cognitive obscurations is the contaminated path of meditation and the uncontaminated path of seeing. Here, the antidote to cognitive obscurations is the antidote to the grasper and grasped of our own school. Second, there are four types of marginal analysis. First, the reason why the first four are established as antidotes to afflictive obscurations and the remaining eleven as antidotes to cognitive obscurations is: the first four appear as aspects of selflessness of persons and are the cause of the afflictive obscuration of clinging to self of persons; these four are path wisdom, etc., and the sixteen such as impermanence are divided into antidotes to afflictive obscurations, therefore the first four are antidotes to afflictive obscurations. The remaining ones must also be explained as antidotes to obscurations, but since afflictive obscurations have already been explained, it is unnecessary wisdom. Second, the reason why the first five are established as contaminated and the last six as uncontaminated in the antidote to cognitive obscurations is: the first five represent the subsequent attainment that appears as if there is no object, and the latter six represent the samadhi without appearance, so it is established there. Third, the reason why the contaminated is established as the path of meditation and the uncontaminated as the path of seeing is: the path of seeing is uninterrupted samadhi, and the path of meditation is manifested and alternates because of the long time. Fourth, the antidote to afflictive obscurations is divided into paths, while the antidote to cognitive obscurations is not divided, because it is difficult or easy to eliminate the two. Second, the detailed distinctions of the dependent phenomena are divided into three, four, five, and six. First, there are three paths, and among them, the first path shows the aspect of being uncontaminated: realizing that there is no agent, thereby becoming the antidote to clinging to the agent; realizing that there is no knower, thereby becoming the antidote to clinging to the knower; in terms of convention, abandoning the inferior ground, from the perspective of taking the superior state, there is transformation, but not only transformation to this; in terms of convention, after subduing the afflictions, one goes to nirvana, but not only subduing to this, these four are the four paths, etc., in order. Second, the five aspects of the second contaminated path are: the grasping of external objects appears as objects like a dream, but there is no true nature; sound like an echo is not produced from a true cause; like an eye disease, like an image or a double moon, it is only appearance.

Without cessation, like the water of a mirage, from the very beginning, the proliferation is pacified, and like illusory horses and elephants, they are naturally pure. The way to counteract these is that even meditating on each of the apprehended objects as being like a dream, etc., one can abandon all clinging to them as real. Third, the aspect of the third path, the uncontaminated path, is: external apprehended objects are not things to be abandoned as objects of complete affliction; that, there are no things to be taken as completely purified things; its nature is unblemished and clear light; that, there is no proliferation of distinctions such as form and sound; that, there is no arrogance in the realization of understanding that it is empty by nature, that is, there is nothing to be arrogant about; that, the emptiness of emptiness by nature is unwavering, that is, the aspect of realizing that it exists until the end of samsara. These are also the antidotes to the six cognitive obscurations of conceptualization. What are the six?
