If these are categorized as paths of meditation, there are three: faith, dedication, and rejoicing. The reason for such categorization is to accumulate merit, to prevent it from being exhausted, and to make it grow. The Manifestation of Wisdom believes there are three

This is to dispel doubts about sectarian views. If according to the latter, it dispels distrust and unwillingness, thereby generating certainty and a strong desire for the Mother. Second, the benefits of faith and understanding are twofold: essence and classification. First, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas truly realize the qualities of those who cultivate faith and understanding, without error, and having ascertained this, the characteristic of expression is sincerity, not flattery with sweet words. Second, the fundamental classifications are three: praising during self-benefit faith, respecting during dual-benefit faith, and extolling during other-benefit faith. These three are: supreme in essence. Regarding this, the statement of qualities is divided into small, medium, and large, thus there are praise, respect, and extolment. Thus it is. Second, dedication is threefold on the path of practice: characteristics, function, and essence. First, the characteristic is: Bodhisattvas share their roots of virtue with all sentient beings, dedicating them in a way that does not fixate on unsurpassed enlightenment, which surpasses the virtue of all sentient beings and the virtue of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Second, the function is: to become the cause for guiding sentient beings to the path of liberation through the Three Vehicles. Third, the essence is: as stated in the Ornament of Sutras, "The aspirations of the steadfast are with mind, intention, and desire." Therefore, the mind that strengthens the roots of virtue into enlightenment, and the desire to want them inexhaustible, should all be known as they are. The wisdom that realizes no self-nature is also necessary. Third, rejoicing is twofold on the path of practice: What is rejoiced in? The Tathagatas from generating the mind of enlightenment to Buddhahood, from Nirvana to the decline of the Holy Dharma, the roots of virtue in between, and causing sentient beings to mature through the Three Vehicles, all the mundane and supramundane virtues of oneself and others, such as learners and non-learners. How is rejoicing done? Conventionally, skillfully visualizing as illusory, and ultimately, realizing non-fixation with wisdom. Third, summarizing the meaning from the perspective of function: Among the three paths of practice with outflows, through faith and attention, many merits can be manifestly accumulated. In short

O, thus it is. For the faith in the inconceivable realm, its ripening result is also inconceivable. As it is said, it is the faith of generating belief in the unsurpassed realm. The example of action is: just like gold dust emerges from gold mines. By making aspirations, one can make the virtues generated by faith fully become the limbs of Bodhi, that is, as a cause, using wisdom and compassion to increase the roots of virtue to complete Bodhi. The example of transforming into a cause is: just like a goldsmith transforms gold into gold ornaments, men's earrings, etc. By rejoicing, the practitioner who rejoices and the meritorious deeds of others can obtain equality, that is, by eliminating jealousy, one cultivates joy as if one had done it oneself for what others have done. That is to say, if wisdom is the same, it is the same, and even if it is not the same, such a result can be obtained. Here, placing aspiration before and rejoicing after is to explain that the virtue of aspiration is increased by rejoicing, and the virtue of rejoicing is increased by aspiration, and the two reflect each other. Second, there are two types of uncontaminated paths: the path of accomplishment and the path of purification. The difference between the two is: Samadhi is uncontaminated and unique. From the way of realizing the object, it can make what is to be obtained accomplished. From the way of eliminating what is to be abandoned, it can make defilements be removed. From these two perspectives, it is explained that these two should not be regarded as different things. First, there are two paths of accomplishment: the nature of what is accomplished by what, and the ability of what is to be accomplished to rely on. The first is: the difference of the essence. For all dharmas, directly seeing the non-conceptual without error is an excellent difference, just like although there are many blind people, they cannot enter the city. If it is not grasped by this, then other Paramitas or contaminated dharmas cannot obtain Buddhahood, so this can overcome all other Paramitas. The difference of aspect is: for all contaminated and purified dharmas, realizing their equality, without arising, ceasing, and object, thereby accomplishing the three. Second, the ability of what is to be accomplished to rely on is: temporarily, in the continuum of the yogi, generating all the qualities of the path in a way that does not cling to signs; ultimately, the meaning to be obtained is a great result.
