Furthermore, from the proximity attainment of the fourth dhyana up to the proximity attainment of the peak of existence, since there is no feeling of joy and happiness there, it is only explained as seeing the merit in abandoning the meaning of the mind that collects joy. The first mind of the proximity attainment of the first dhyana belongs to the desire realm and does not belong to the upper realms, and the remaining principles should also be understood in this way. The third question is, where does the ninth path belong? If, as it is thought that the fruit of the path of application, the mind of actual attainment, then it is obvious that the ninth liberation path of proximity attainment is pervaded by the actual attainment. However, the author of the Abhidharmakosha believes that the ninth liberation path of the first three dhyanas has two kinds of arising: proximity attainment and the nature of actual attainment, while the fourth dhyana and above are believed to be pervaded by the actual attainment. This is because the Abhidharmakosha believes that the feeling of proximity attainment is only neutral, and the proximity attainment and actual attainment of the first three dhyanas have different kinds of feeling aggregates, so it is difficult to transfer the feeling aggregates. The remaining proximity attainments are determined to be only neutral, so it is not difficult to transfer the feeling aggregates, or so it is thought. Thus, the determination of the six minds of proximity attainment is based on the worldly path being free from desire from the lower realms, so it is not certain that there are only these six. Because the paths of seeing and cultivation, which are uncontaminated, also rely on the proximity attainment of the first dhyana, and these two are contradictory in terms of peaceful and coarse aspects, especially the path of seeing cannot be an antidote to the abandonment of cultivation in the desire realm. In general, this path of viewing peaceful and coarse aspects wants to abandon all manifest afflictions of the desire realm. In response, the Vaibhashikas believe that they can abandon both the abandonment of seeing and the abandonment of cultivation of the desire realm, and the Sutrantikas believe that they can abandon the abandonment of cultivation. However, upon careful analysis, the path of cultivation that children practice in a peaceful and coarse manner cannot abandon all manifest afflictions of the abandonment of cultivation in the desire realm, because it is impossible to reverse the mind of affliction that relies on the desire realm without obtaining the noble path, and this belongs to the abandonment of cultivation of the desire realm. These eight proximity attainments, except for the first, are all pure. The first proximity attainment has two kinds: pure and uncontaminated, and some believe that there is also a tasting one, making a total of three, because they want to compete with the actual attainment. The second question is what should be obtained.

There are three in total: mundane paths, supramundane paths, and examining the classifications of these. First, there are two types of mundane paths: afflicted and pure. First, the afflicted is divided into three: what is the object to be afflicted, what is the subject that afflicts, and how it is afflicted. First, what is the object to be afflicted? It is the essence of meditative absorption and the formless realm, which are pure. What afflicts? Among the root afflictions, anger is not present in the minds of the higher realms, so discarding anger, the remaining four, which are obscured and unlabelled craving, view, pride, and ignorance, are included in the two upper realms. How does it afflict? When one abides in those pure meditative absorptions, if attachment arises towards them, then what was previously virtuous becomes associated with affliction. Similarly, if one thinks, "I have attained this, not others," that is pride. Due to confusion about the path and non-path, thinking, "These are paths to liberation, and even superior," or doubting what is the path to liberation, one becomes associated with these. Relying on those meditative absorptions, when one sees some fragments of the past and future through clairvoyance, one develops wrong views about the world being permanent, etc., and thus becomes associated with them. Then, since the formless realm is not the basis of clairvoyance, how does one become afflicted by views in that realm? It is true, but for the formless realm, if one already has wrong views in their mindstream, then upon attaining meditative absorption, one thinks, "My view is supreme, and it is through the power of this view that I have attained this samadhi." Thus, attachment to evil views arises, making it afflicted. Dividing afflictions into four is in accordance with the Vaibhashika school of the Lower Lands, while the Vaibhashika school of Kashmir considers only the one who experiences craving as dominant among afflictions. Although these are not the nature of meditative absorption, considering that they were previously the material of meditative absorption, they are listed in the classification of meditative absorption, like rotten seeds. Furthermore, these are unlabelled and do not possess its limbs. Second, the pure: the mundane virtues of meditative absorption and the formless realm, because they are free from all afflictions of their own realm, are called pure or purified liberation. If it is classified, there is decline and
