No. Fourth, in order to accomplish the meaning of the instructions without reversing them, there are four: the basis for accomplishment, the object of accomplishment, the purpose of accomplishment, and the nature of accomplishment itself. First, there are two bases for accomplishment: the lineage of the basis and the dharma of the basis, accomplishing thirteen things. First, there are four: the nature of the lineage, how it becomes a lineage, the distinctions of the lineage, and the definition of the lineage. First, there are three: the views of the Hearer Vehicle (Śrāvakayāna), the Mind-Only (Cittamātra), and the Middle Way (Madhyamaka). First, the view of the Hearer Vehicle is: In the Vinaya Sutra, it is said that being content with Dharma robes, alms, and meager dwellings is the lineage of the noble ones, and delighting in abandonment and meditation is the lineage of the noble ones. In total, four are taught. The nature is the absence of attachment arising from the mind. Among these, the first three show the way to accomplish the path, and the latter shows the actual path. These two, in sequence, the former pacifies the craving for things that belong to oneself, and the latter completely pacifies the craving for both oneself and what belongs to oneself. The reason these become lineages is: In the Auto-commentary, it says, "Because noble ones arise from these, it is the lineage of the noble ones." The difference between sharp and dull faculties is also established as lineage, as it says in the Treasury of Knowledge (Abhidharmakośa): "Some are of that lineage from the beginning, and some are transformed from training." Thus, although only the name of lineage is known, no distinction has been made between two lineages. Second, the view of the Mind-Only school has two aspects: considering conditioned phenomena as lineage and considering the nature of reality as lineage. Considering conditioned phenomena as lineage is further divided into two: establishing the ālaya-vijñāna (store consciousness) and not establishing the ālaya-vijñāna. First, the lineage that establishes the ālaya-vijñāna is: In the Meaning Secret (Don-gsang), it says, "The perfectly established also has two aspects: permanence and impermanence. Whatever is impermanent also has two aspects: the nature of true wisdom and the nature of seeds. The nature of seeds also has two aspects: naturally abiding and truly accomplished." Here, the naturally abiding lineage refers to the ability to generate uncontaminated qualities on the ālaya-vijñāna. In the Summary of the Great Vehicle (Mahāyānasaṃgraha), it also says, "Therefore, the seeds of the habits of hearing, small, medium, and large, should also be regarded as the seeds of the Dharma-kāya (Dharma body), because they are the antidote to the ālaya-vijñāna, so they are not the nature of the ālaya-vijñāna." It exists together with the ālaya-vijñāna, like milk and water.

It is said that the more it increases, the more the seeds are exhausted and transformed. Furthermore, as stated in the Ornament of Clear Realization and the Compendium, the seeds that can generate the uncontaminated from the basis of the ālaya are regarded as lineage. The non-establishment of the ālaya is as stated in the Bodhisattva-bhūmi: "What is lineage? In brief, there are two types: naturally abiding and truly accomplished. Among these, the naturally abiding lineage refers to the distinction of the six faculties of the Bodhisattvas, which is obtained by the Dharma-nature from beginningless time, transmitted from one to another. Among these, the truly accomplished lineage refers to what is obtained from previously habituating virtuous roots." As it is, the distinction of the six faculties mentioned here refers to: the mind-stream, elements, and birth-places of sentient beings, etc., which continue uninterruptedly in any place, and although the ability to attain enlightenment exists as a functional entity, it is considered inexpressible because there is no independent entity, whether as a basis, as itself, or as something else. Therefore, the six faculties themselves are not the lineage, nor are they something other than it. The increasing lineage refers to the naturally abiding lineage, which is stabilized by hearing, thinking, and meditating, and is therefore merely given another name as increasing. Furthermore, there are cases of the ocean coming from the clouds, both definite and indefinite, and the lineage of inferior paths, both previously experienced and not experienced, are also described as natural and increasing. Considering Dharma-nature as lineage is like how the Ornament of Clear Realization shows Dharma-nature as lineage, and Śāntipa also similarly describes it as lineage. Third, the view of the Madhyamikas is as stated in the Sutra of Ten Dharmas: "From smoke, one knows fire; from waterfowl, one knows water; a wise Bodhisattva knows the lineage from signs." In accordance with this, the Entrance to the Middle Way says: "Even ordinary people sometimes hear emptiness, and inner joy arises again and again; tears born from joy moisten the eyes, and the hairs of the body also stand on end. This indicates that they have the seed of perfect enlightenment." This explains the physical signs as the cause. Furthermore, the Avataṃsaka Sutra says: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, the lineage of the Bodhisattva is called abiding in the realm of Dharma, like the sky."
