Having fully matured, they attain unsurpassed and perfect enlightenment. Thus, the terms "dull faculties" and "sharp faculties" refer to the first Stream-enterer and the two Stream-enterers before detachment from desire, totaling three. The terms "faith" and "attainment of vision" refer to both fruitions before detachment from desire. Because it is the basis for distinguishing the three types of going to the Pure Abode, in Ngor, the others are counted according to their literal meanings. According to the view of Master Simhabhadra, a Stream-enterer has two aspects: entering and abiding. Entering has two types: sharp and dull faculties. Abiding has two types: merely that and differentiated. The differentiated has two types: lineage-born and born of transformation. Once-returner has two aspects: entering and abiding. Abiding has two types: merely that and differentiated. Non-returner has two aspects: entering and abiding. Abiding has four types: born in the intermediate state with activity, passing away without activity, plus the upward transition, making five. The upward transition includes going to the Pure Abode and two types of destroying form by going to the peak of existence. Going to the Pure Abode has three types of increasing. Destroying form has two types: seeing the Dharma in peace and manifesting the body. Thus, Stream-enterer has five, Once-returner has three, Non-returner has ten, plus Arhat Stream-enterer, and Pratyekabuddha, totaling twenty. That is, the seventeen mentioned in the root text, plus the three that supplement it, are the views of the Commentary Illuminating the Meaning and the Ornament of Light. In the classification of going to the peak of existence here, seeing the Dharma in peace and manifesting the body are merely the fruition of Stream-enterer, merely the fruition of Once-returner, and Arhat Stream-enterer. If one asks if there is a contradiction, if it is considered from the perspective of the Hearer Vehicle, it is true. But if it is a Bodhisattva, because they have meditated on all eight absorptions, it is said that they go to the ultimate peak of existence. Because they are able to enter the formless samadhi, it is merely said to be destroying form, so there is no contradiction, as stated in the Three Hundred Thousand Verses, which Jangye explains. Fourth, to consider what these symbolize. If, using the similarity of these Sanghas as a reason, the Great Vehicle is labeled with the names of the Lesser Vehicle, then what should be used as an analogy? The Noble One said that it is similar to the two: the sudden and the gradual. The Master said that it is similar to all the gradual ones, and no commentary has combined it with the instantaneous. Then, with what similarities should they be combined? They should be combined with abandonment, realization, and the manner of taking birth. However, in terms of abandonment, for Bodhisattvas

When the stream-enterer and once-returner, etc., of the Hearers are established in the mind, it is merely a designation made because it is intended to show the special reasons that are in accordance with the Dharma for designating them by their names. It is certain that it is not established with the intention of being exactly like the stages of abandonment of the Hearers, as the Great Being said. Fifth, there are three ways to show other special dharmas: the difficult points of the Sutra, the boundaries of the Sangha, and the consideration of the nominalists and the imputed. First, if someone says that it is not appropriate for a Bodhisattva Arya to be born in the long-lived gods. This is because in a previous life, they were born there, and later attained the Arya path in the human realm, so they were established as dull-witted. Also, it is said that one goes to the peak of existence and destroys the form aggregate and is born in the formless realm, and the Compendium and others say that Bodhisattvas are not born in the formless realm. If someone says that these two are contradictory, there is no fault, because saying that one is born there refers to merely obtaining the cause of being born there, which is the formless absorption. Also, in the case of the three higher trainings, if someone says that it is not appropriate to taste the first dhyana and lose the last three dhyanas, and to be born in the abodes of the gods by the power of dhyana, because these are contradictory for a Bodhisattva who has reached a high level. There is no fault, because the first case is considering some Bodhisattva Aryas who are dull-witted and unskilled in means, or it refers to tasting in the state of an ordinary being. The second case is because one is born there by relying on those samadhi minds as desired. Second, regarding the boundaries, the Arya's view is that the two followers are on the path of seeing, and the rest are on the path of meditation, especially the fourth who enters the ground, as stated in the Ten Bhumi Sutra. The teacher believes that only the stream-enterer is on the path of seeing, and the rest are considered to be on the path of meditation. As above, it is also understood that these should not be associated with those who have grounds, because in the case of Dharma followers and those with one interruption, the Sutra also says that they are separated by one life. Third, regarding the consideration of nominal imputation, if someone asks whether the stream-enterer, etc., spoken of here are real words or imputed, they are imputed. Because it is considered that the reason for the application of the words stream-enterer, etc., is as stated in the Sutra of the Wheel of Non-Regression. The necessity is the Sangha, thinking that it is only the four pairs of individuals of the Hearers, therefore, to the Bodhisattva as the Sangha
