From the perspective of the three abilities to abandon the suffering of results and the two causes of afflictions, the first three are for self-benefit, and the latter three are for the benefit of others. Thus, counting with these two as the basis for classification, there are eight. Second, the Dharma, as stated in the Uttaratantra: "Without thought, without duality, without discrimination, Pure, clear, and with the nature of an antidote, Whatever is free from attachment by whatever means, That which has the characteristics of the two truths is the Dharma. Freedom from attachment is included in the cessation and the truth of the path. These should also be known by three qualities each in their respective order." That is to say, according to the order, it is not the object of speech and discrimination, but the object of the samadhi of the noble ones; abandoning the defiled actions and afflictions; abandoning the thoughts that cling to the causes of these two as pure, blissful, permanent, self, etc. Of these three, the former is naturally pure, and the latter two are parts of the sudden removal of stains. Furthermore, the nature of the path is the purification of afflictions and near afflictions, making the reality of what is to be known manifest, and completely destroying the darkness of the three poisons, etc. Thus, from the two sets of three, the first is the truth of cessation, and the second is the truth of the path, divided into six, with two as the basis for classification, totaling eight. Here, cessation and path should be understood as the cessation and path of the Great Vehicle, and the truth of the path is only explained as the seeing and meditation paths of the Great Vehicle. Third, the Sangha, as stated in the Uttaratantra: "As it is, as much as it is, the inner wisdom, Because of purity, possessing the irreversible assembly, The very nature of unsurpassed qualities." That is to say, according to the order, for the phenomena called Dharma and individuals, the knowledge of suchness that realizes the edge of selflessness, the pacification of the two graspers; the knowledge of the extent that sees the thusness, the emptiness of the two selves, pervading all sentient beings; the inner wisdom that realizes these two wisdoms in the manner of self-awareness; and the sight that purifies the attachment of afflictive obscurations and the obstruction of knowledge obscurations, as appropriate, these four are the qualities of purity. Second, the temporary refuge in the Three Jewels, as stated in the Uttaratantra: "The teacher, the teaching, and the object of learning, The three vehicles and the three practices, Depending on those who have faith in them, The three refuges are established." As stated in the common Sutra Pitaka, for the sake of three necessities, depending on six types of individuals.
