. This is the meaning of general and branch. First, the general meaning has two: the author is the body, and what is done is the nature of the activity. First, the body has two: the number of bodies, the essence. First, there are four ways to divide the number of bodies: divided into two, divided into three, divided into five, and divided into four. The first is in the "Ratnavali": "The form bodies of the Buddhas arise from the accumulation of merit. The Dharma body, in brief, arises from the king of wisdom." And in the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning": "By this virtue, may all beings accumulate the accumulations of merit and wisdom, and may the two supreme achievements arising from merit and wisdom be quickly attained." Here, the Dharma body and the form body are summarized into two. Similarly, in the "Uttaratantra Shastra", it is also said: "The self-benefit, the other-benefit, the ultimate body, and the dependent conventional body." Here, the Svabhavikakaya is regarded as the self-benefit ultimate body, and the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya are regarded as the other-benefit conventional body. The second is divided into three, as in the "Ornament of the Sutras": "The three bodies encompass the Buddha's body, it should be known that the three bodies are for the benefit of oneself and others, and this meaning is explained based on the support." Here it is said that the Sambhogakaya is for self-benefit, and the Nirmanakaya is for the benefit of others. The Svabhavikakaya is the support of the two. In the "Uttaratantra Shastra", it is also said: "They are profound and vast, and the great qualities of self-nature, in the supreme nature of Dharma, the three bodies such as these are integrated." And the noble Nagarjuna summarized the three bodies of Dharma, Sambhoga, and Nirmana, and praised the three bodies, and so on. The third is divided into five, as in the "Commentary": "The Sambhogakaya can only be seen by the Bodhisattvas of the tenth Bhumi, the basis of the wisdom as described is the great Sambhogakaya, and the Nirmanakaya seen by those who abide in the first Bhumi, etc., is called the Sambhogakaya and divided into two." Or, the Nirmanakaya is divided into two types, Vipaka and Avipaka, thus dividing into five bodies. The White Lotus Sutra of Understanding also says that the Nirmanakaya is divided into two, thus explaining the five bodies. Acharya Jampal Drakpa said: The Svabhavikakaya, the Dharmakaya, and the Jnanakaya are three, plus the two Rupakayas, making a total of five bodies. Acharya Gegpai Dorje considers the Svabhavikakaya, the complete Sambhogakaya, and the Vipaka

It is considered that there are five kayas, including the Nirmana-kaya and the Dharma-kaya. Fourth, the division into four kayas is: the view of Master Simhabhadra's 'Ornament of Light' and the two 'Smaller Commentaries,' and those who follow them, which will be explained later. Second, regarding the essence of the kaya, there are two: kaya and jñana. First, there are four kayas: Svabhavikakaya, Jñanakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. First, the Svabhavikakaya is: because it is free from the three—arising, ceasing, and abiding—it is unconditioned; because it is inseparable from the qualities, it is inseparable; because there is no grasping and being grasped, it is free from the two extremes; because it is liberated from the three obscurations—afflictions, knowledge, and samadhi—it is free from adventitious stains; because it is naturally pure, it is without stains; because it is not an object of thought, it is non-conceptual; because it is an object of the Buddhas, it is an object of yoga. The latter three are summarized as the nature of luminosity, thus having five natures; because it is vast, it is immeasurable; because it transcends counting, it is countless; because it is not an object of thought, it is inconceivable; because it exists only in the Buddhas, it is unique; because it has abandoned all habitual tendencies, it possesses the five qualities of ultimate purity, as explained in the Uttaratantra. These latter two qualities and the third nature also preclude this kaya from existing in those on the path of learning and those who have not entered the path. This kaya is the very nature of mind, which has been transformed into its complete state through the power of the path and meditation, and it has been declared more than once. Therefore, to consider this kaya as another unconditioned phenomenon that is not the Tathagatagarbha is inconsistent with both Madhyamaka and Cittamatra. If it is considered to be the Tathagatagarbha, then it must exist from the beginning, so does the Svabhavikakaya exist at the ground stage? This fault is also applicable to the unconditioned that is not the Tathagatagarbha, because if the Tathagatagarbha is not considered to exist from the ground stage, then it is merely becoming unconditioned. Second, the Jñanakaya is: the uncontaminated mind and mental factors of the Buddha-bhumi, which will be explained in the scriptures, are the co-operative cause of the two Rupakayas. Third, the Sambhogakaya is: possessing five excellences, namely, showing the kaya and speaking the three, and the activity of the mind is continuous, and to these
