If someone asks, why is it necessary to cultivate, since one has not obtained the uncontaminated during the time of ordinary beings and has not accumulated the life of the noble ones? To this, the karma that produces great fruits from nothing is present. By transforming it into the cause of being born in a pure land through propagation, there is no fault, as explained by the Meaningful Saying. It should be recognized that for the noble ones who desire both with and without defilements, accumulating karma is also during the time of ordinary beings. According to the Abhidharmakosha, if the afflictions arising in a certain place and a certain place are not abandoned, then it seems that even the noble ones believe that the karma aroused by them will be projected. Seventh, the method of how to meditate is to meditate on the forward and reverse order. What are these two? With ignorance as the condition, there are actions, etc. With birth as the condition, there is old age and death, as well as sorrow, lamentation, suffering, and displeasure arising, one should separately discern.

In terms of substance, the realists believe that things are real. This state, far from the eight extremes of elaboration, comes from the treatises of the noble Nagarjuna and his son. Third, the explanation of the pinnacle of the path of meditation is divided into three parts: the basis of the path of meditation, the objects to be abandoned—conceptual thoughts, and the qualities of the basis. First, the basis of the path of meditation is divided into two parts: the main text and the refutation of arguments. The first part includes the preliminary practice—the lion's leap, and the main practice—the samadhi of direct transcendence. First, the lion's leap refers to the dual practice of the lion's leap, which ascends in accordance with the order into the nine successive samadhis and descends in reverse order. This practice has only one entry into cessation, so there are seventeen places. Second, the main practice is divided into going and coming. First, going is further divided into not combining with cessation and combining with cessation. The first is to proceed in order from the first dhyana to cessation, which has nine places. The second is to combine with cessation, that is, to combine the eight samadhis and the eight cessations, proceeding in accordance with the order. After rising from the cessation combined with the peak of existence, again entering the peak of existence, and after rising from that, abiding in the desire realm mind, which has eighteen places. This is like eighty thousand kalpas. According to the eighty kalpas, one does not move from the cessation to the peak of existence, but directly abides in the desire realm mind, so there are seventeen places. Second, coming refers to the direct transcendence of combining the nine successive samadhis and the nine desire realm minds, proceeding in reverse order, which has eighteen places. Here, the combination of cessation and the desire realm mind is because it is the ultimate of peace and non-peace. If one can combine with these two, it means that it is easy to combine with others. Second, refuting the arguments against this. The *Abhidharmakosha* says: The eight grounds of the four dhyanas and the four formless realms, the eight with outflows and the seven without outflows, are divided into two, and then these two are respectively subjected to going and coming in accordance with and against the order, these two are the distant preliminary practice. Then, the going and coming of abandoning the seven with outflows and the seven without outflows, abandoning them one by one, is the near preliminary practice. Then, starting from the first dhyana with outflows, to the third dhyana without outflows, then the space without outflows, then the nothingness without outflows, going in this way and returning in the same way, this is the third real situation of combining different categories of with outflows and without outflows.
