As before, the experience of being born into the nature of earth is sixfold. The eighth is craving: it is the craving that arises from experiencing the three feelings. When tormented by suffering, the desire for happiness is desire-craving; in the first, second, and third dhyanas, the desire for happiness, and in the fourth, the desire for equanimity is form-craving; in the formless realm, the desire for equanimity is formless-craving, there are three types. The ninth is grasping: it is the intensification of that craving. From the perspective of the object, there are four types: namely, the close grasping of desire, the close grasping of the five objects of desire; the close grasping of wrong views, the close grasping of one or two wrong views; the close grasping of ethical misconduct, abandoning wrong conduct, and the behavior of dogs and cows, etc.; because there is self-grasping, those who say "I" or "this is me" are self-speakers, which is self-view, and the arising of pride and attachment to the thought of "I am." The tenth is existence: the karma that enables the birth of the next life to be realized through the power of grasping. Although this can be explained as seven types of existence of the six realms and the intermediate state, the first six are only mentioned incidentally. The eleventh is birth: by the power of that karma, the five aggregates that connect the continuum in the place of birth are divided into four types of birth places. The twelfth is aging and death: from the beginning of birth, the age changes, abandoning the same kind, that is, the body changes, etc., divided into timely and untimely death. The reason for combining aging and death into one is that death occurs without aging, so it is not a step-by-step division. And sorrow, weeping, suffering, displeasure, confusion, etc., also do not have a fixed order, and some people even die in joy, so they are not listed as divisions, but only mentioned incidentally, this is to show others the faults, thereby generating aversion. Second, the summary is divided into two types: summarizing the divisions and summarizing into all afflictions. First, if the divisions are summarized, there are four types: the projecting factor, the projected factor, the accomplishing factor, and the accomplished factor. Among them, the first is: the first three divisions, that is, actions arise from the cause of ignorance. How does it arise? It arises in the way that the habitual imprints of karma are distributed to consciousness. Second, the projected factor is: what is projected are the four divisions from name and form to feeling. Third, the accomplishing

Now is the third part, which is conditioned by craving. How does consciousness have the habit of karma, in order to facilitate existence? The fourth is that if something manifests and is accomplished, it is birth and death. If these are related to a single cycle of cause and effect of taking birth, then the karma that is completely initiated by the impeller, ignorance, is nourished by craving and grasping, making name and form, etc., able to be accomplished, and this is existence. Afterwards, the consciousness of the time of fruition arises, which is birth, and the change from name and form to feeling is old age and death, which is the time when that which was previously propelled is accomplished. This is when the teacher Asanga shows the way sentient beings take birth, placing craving, etc., before name and form, according to the meaning understood by the sutras. And the sutras show that the twelve links of dependent origination are that the former gives rise to the latter, from the general entry into samsara, because previous ignorance accumulated karma, thereby forming the body of name and form, etc., from which also arise the afflictions of karma such as craving, which then transform into existence and birth, etc., this is how it is shown. It does not refer to the way a single sentient being takes birth from ignorance to old age and death. Second, to summarize into complete afflictions: the first, eighth, and ninth are afflictions, the second and tenth are karma, and the remaining seven are suffering. As stated in the Madhyamaka Essence of Dependent Origination. Third, the way of becoming a condition: In the Compendium it is said that the previous limbs cause the latter to act as four conditions as appropriate. That is, consciousness causes four conditions for consciousness, consciousness causes only the dominant condition for form, form causes two conditions for consciousness, namely, that condition and the objective condition, and form causes two conditions for form, namely, the causal condition and the dominant condition. Taking the first as an example, ignorance causes the condition of action (formation) and thought, for example, action (formation) arises from the habit of ignorance, and its propelling intention causes it to continue constantly, and in times of delusion, attention is directed to what is not supreme as an object there, and because of its power, the corresponding dharmas all take the object perversely. Therefore, it functions sequentially from the causal condition to the dominant condition, and the same should be applied to others.
