Thus, saying "actions" and so on, it is explained in order. First, when internal and external things arise, no one considers and creates them in advance, but in general, if there are causes and conditions, the result will arise. Second, there is a cause, but it will not arise from a constant cause, but from an impermanent cause. Third, it arises from causes and conditions and is impermanent, but not all results arise from all causes, but from the causes that have the ability to produce and are in accordance with each other. This explains that, apart from belonging to the continuum, starting from the interdependence of the two, it shows that it has three characteristics. That is, it is said in the Compendium of Topics: "It arises from immovable causes, it arises from impermanent causes, and it arises from powerful causes." Second, the classification and summary of each, that is, classification and summary. First, the classification is the twelve links from ignorance to old age and death, which is based on internal interdependence. The nature of these is: In general, ignorance has two types, afflicted and non-afflicted, but the second type is also manifested by arhats, so it is not suitable as the root of taking birth in samsara, so it is the first type. And this is divided into two types: ignorance of the law of cause and effect and the meaning of reality, which is the cause of arousing the three actions. How does this arouse the actions? Because one does not understand the nature of the aggregates that are merely interdependent, one will be attached to the self when one is ignorant, and from that one will become attached to the self. When one is particularly attached to the self, one will want oneself to be happy and not want oneself to suffer. Among them, merely wanting oneself to be happy in this life will lead to non-virtuous actions, which are the non-meritorious actions that are the cause of bad destinies; wanting oneself to be happy in the next life will lead to the ten virtuous actions, which are the meritorious actions that are the cause of gods and humans; mainly craving the happiness of equanimity that is free from the suffering of the change of happiness and suffering, one will enter into meditation and formless meditation, which are the unwavering actions that are the cause of the upper realms. Thus, the root of arousing the three actions is ignorance. So, how does ignorance arouse various actions? It is said in the Compendium of Topics: There are two types of ignorance, ignorance of the ripening result and ignorance of

It is ignorance of ignorance. From ignorance of the ripening of fruits, non-virtuous actions arise. From ignorance of the meaning of that very thing, meritorious and unwavering actions arise. So it is said. Saying that is also considering the intention of the time, but the intention of the cause is only ignorance of that very reality, as previously stated. Therefore, the first of the twelve links is also only that. This is also a cause of rebirth, and seeing the truth has no cause of rebirth, as stated in the "Commentary on the Dependent Arising Sutra," so they consider the ignorance to be abandoned as a secret in meaning. However, this does not seem reasonable. What is abandoned by seeing is the completely imputed that arises from changing the mind with tenets, Asanga explains without obstruction, but birds and wild animals, etc., whose minds have not been corrupted by tenets, also accumulate karma corrupted by ignorance, and this ignorance is the root of all the faults of existence, and the brothers Asanga consider this to be the ignorance of the afflicted mind. Therefore, It belongs to what is abandoned by meditation. If it follows that noble ones have ignorance that causes rebirth, because they have afflicted mind. Then, ignorance that causes rebirth is considered to be a retinue of the afflicted mind, but if it is not said that the former pervades the latter, why would it become a reproach? If it is said that because it is abandoned by meditation, noble ones have it, then there are many things that are abandoned by meditation but noble ones do not have, such as intense hatred aimed at an object. Second, action is karma aroused by ignorance, and there are three of these. Third, consciousness is the mind-stream aroused by that karma, and in this case also, that which connects the cause at the time of accumulating karma with the place of rebirth is the consciousness at the time of the result. That is also the view of those who accept the all-ground consciousness, but according to others, it is mental consciousness. Fourth, name and form are the name of the four, such as feeling, and the form of soft things, etc. Fifth, the six sense sources are the completion from the eye to the mind by the increase of name and form, that is, at the time of name and form, the first four faculties do not exist. Sixth, contact is what arises from the combination of object, faculty, and consciousness, and it is the separation of the object into three, such as pleasant, etc., that is, six from the point of view of the basis. Seventh, feeling is the pleasant feeling, painful feeling, etc. that arises from contact separating the three objects.
