There are two types of characteristics: bad and good. First, there are six characteristics of a bad student. First, with the four lines beginning with "That," they are artificial and have superficial faith. Second, with the four lines beginning with "First," they are of bad character and have wrong desires. Third, with the four lines beginning with "Noble," they are unstable and changeable. Fourth, with the four lines beginning with "Character," they possess four types of inverted perceptions. Fifth, with the four lines beginning with "Mind," they have many thoughts and lose the main point. Sixth, with the four lines beginning with "Correct," it shows the need to distinguish between good and bad. Second, there are two characteristics of a good student. First, with the four lines beginning with "Armor," they are liberated by supreme faith. Second, with the three lines beginning with "Faith and," it shows students who possess respect, humility, and gentleness. Second, explaining how to rely on a virtuous person, there are two aspects: explaining the actual way to rely on them and incidentally explaining the characteristics of bad friends. First, there are eight ways to explain the actual way to rely on them. First, with the nine lines beginning with "Guru," one relies on them with eight examples of respect. Fourth, explaining the hope for merit and refuge, with the four lines beginning with "High realm," it is a clear sign of respect for merit. With the four lines beginning with "Not cultivating," it is its opposing factor. With the four lines beginning with "Why," it explains its supporting factor, making four in total.
