What is the realm of Samadhi (ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་, Skt. Samādhi, concentration) of the noble ones? It is the ultimate truth Paramārtha-satya, ultimate truth). For ordinary beings who are not enlightened, the appearances that arise in the face of correct cognition that does not harm their senses are the conventional truth Saṃvṛti-satya, conventional truth). And that which is the object of deluded consciousness that harms the senses is merely conventional appearance. As the esteemed Chandrakirti (དཔལ་ལྡན་ཟླ་བ་གྲགས་པ་) said: 'Conventional truth becomes the means, and ultimate truth is what is attained by the means. Those who do not distinguish between these two have entered the wrong path of negative conceptualization.' And: 'Because ignorance obscures its own nature, it is called conventional. That which appears as falsely true because of it is called conventional truth, as the Buddha taught. That which is artificial is conventional.' For example: 'By seeing all things as false, one attains the essence of reality. That which is seen as real is reality itself, and that which is seen as false is called conventional truth.' False seeing is also considered to be of two types: clear senses and impaired senses. The consciousness of those with impaired senses is considered to be the opposite of the consciousness of those with good senses. Whatever is perceived by the six unimpaired senses is understood by the world and is considered true by the world, and the rest is considered false by the world. Secondly, what is the ultimate truth? The ultimate truth is also called the nature of reality śūnyatā, emptiness), the great bliss that never changes (མཆོག་ཏུ་མི་འགྱུར་བའི་བདེ་བ་ཆེན་པོ་), primordial peace (གདོད་ནས་ཞི་བ་), unborn (མ་སྐྱེས་པ་), unceasing (མ་འགགས་པ་), naturally beyond suffering without abiding (མི་གནས་པར་རང་བཞིན་གྱིས་མྱ་ངན་ལས་འདས་པ།), the reality of all phenomena, the essence of the hearts of all Buddhas, the profound Middle Way (ཟབ་མོ་དབུ་མའི་ལམ།), and dependent origination (རྟེན་ཅིང་འབྲེལ་བར་འབྱུང་བ་). These are all different names, but they refer to the same thing: the emptiness in which all phenomena, encompassed by samsara and nirvana, are empty of their own essence. For example, in the case of a vase, the vase's ability to function arises from the collection of causes and conditions such as clay and the efforts of a craftsman. Because the vase is established through dependent origination, it avoids the extreme of annihilation; but the vase is not non-existent either. Furthermore, if we examine each of the causes and conditions such as clay individually, nothing arises from any of them. And if we examine each of the parts such as the mouth and neck individually, none of them is the vase. Because it has no inherent existence and no part constitutes its essence, it is not existent, and therefore it is free from the extreme of permanence. Thus, being free from the extremes of permanence and annihilation is the nature of the vase. Similarly, all phenomena are like that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, one should understand all (things). Thus, the nature of dependent origination is free from the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Here, we do not say that the meaning of 'non-existence' is emptiness, but rather that the very meaning of dependent origination is expressed as emptiness. As long as one understands that all phenomena are dependent origination, one sees the true nature and cuts off the root of self-grasping. The sutra says: 'Whoever sees dependent origination sees the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha.' Second, explaining that all phenomena are dependent origination is to reveal the absence of self in persons and the absence of self in phenomena. First, the sentient beings that arise in dependence on the five aggregates are given various names such as person, purusha, self, powerful one, lord of power, jīva (藏文:སྲོག་ཆགས།,梵文天城体:जीव,梵文罗马拟音:jīva,汉语字面意思:生命), and goer. Here, it needs to be examined: Is the 'self' the five aggregates? Or is it different from the five aggregates? If the five aggregates are the 'self,' then the individual 'self' will also become multiple 'selves,' because the form aggregate has shapes, colors, tactile sensations, the number of atoms, etc. Similarly, there are countless differences from the feeling aggregate to the consciousness aggregate. Moreover, at the time of attaining Buddhahood, the 'self' will be annihilated and completely disappear, because the five aggregates are the 'self,' and at that time the five aggregates are annihilated. If it is believed that the 'self' will not be annihilated at the time of attaining Buddhahood, then the practice of accumulation and purification for the sake of attaining Buddhahood becomes meaningless, and liberation also becomes causeless, because the 'self' that attains liberation has been annihilated at that time. The actions done by others will also be experienced by others. If these are accepted, then all worldly conventions, cause and effect, etc., will collapse, falling into the fault of being limitless, so the five aggregates cannot be the 'self.' If it is believed that the 'self' is different from the five aggregates, that is also unreasonable. If there is no nature of the five aggregates, then who can be the form that can be manifested, who can feel, who can cognize the object, who can grasp the sign of the object, and who can separately cognize the object? Because the one who can cognize is different from these (five aggregates). If the 'self' and the five aggregates have no connection, but it is believed that the five aggregates have nature, then there will be action without an actor and results without karma. If these are accepted, then the result must arise from no cause, falling into the fault of being limitless. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
