Meditate on the mandala, and from the light rays of the seed syllable at your heart, invoke the wheel of wisdom, merging it inseparably. Then, from your heart, emanate the wrathful deity holding a lasso and a hook, visualizing the hook catching the hearts of the directional guardians, binding their throats with the lasso, and pulling them in. Recite: 'Om Hrih Shtrih Vikritanana Hum Hum Phat Phat Sarva Dushtam Indra Adinasa Parivara Akarshaya Jah Svaha.' With this mantra, summon the directional guardians and place them in the respective directions of the mandala: To the east is Indra (དབང་པོ་, Indra, the king of gods), red-yellow in color, riding an elephant, with a thousand eyes, holding a vajra in his right hand and a threatening mudra in his left. To his left is Neye Wang, black, riding a garuda, holding a churning stick and a wheel in his right hand, and a conch shell and the Kaustubha jewel in his left. To the south is Yama (གཤིན་རྗེ་, Yama, the lord of death), black, riding a buffalo, with red-yellow hair blazing upwards, holding a staff in his right hand and a threatening mudra in his left. To the west is Varuna (ཆུ་ལྷ་, Varuna, the god of water), white, riding a serpent, holding a serpent lasso. To the north is Kubera (ལུས་ངན་, Kubera, the god of wealth), yellow, with a fleshy body, residing in treasure, holding a city of seeds in his right hand and a mongoose in his left. To his left is Ganapati (ཚོགས་བདག་, Ganapati, the elephant-headed god), with a white elephant trunk, riding a mouse, holding a rosary and a radish in his right hand, and a radish and ladu in his left. To the northeast is Ishana (དབང་ལྡན་, Ishana, a form of Shiva), white, riding a bull, with matted hair, holding a trident and a skull cup, embracing Gauri with both hands. To the southeast is Agni (མེར་མེ་ལྷ་, Agni, the god of fire), red, riding a goat, holding a rosary in his right hand and a kamandalu in his left. To the southwest is Rakshasa (སྲིན་པོ་, Rakshasa, a demon), blue, riding a corpse, wrathful and fierce, holding a curved knife in his right hand and a skull cup in his left. To the northwest is Vayu (རླུང་ལྷ་, Vayu, the god of wind), smoke-colored, riding a deer, holding a wind banner in both hands. Above is Chandra (ཟླ་བ་, Chandra, the moon god), white, residing on a white lotus, holding a white lotus in both hands. Surya (ཉི་མ་, Surya, the sun god), red, riding seven excellent horses, holding a lotus in both hands. Brahma (ཚངས་པ་, Brahma, the creator god), yellow, with four faces, riding a swan, holding a kamandalu and the abhaya mudra in his right hands, and a staff and a rosary in his left hands. Below is Prithvi (སའི་ལྷ་མོ་, Prithvi, the earth goddess), yellow, residing on a lotus, making a gesture of promise with her right hand and holding a vase in her left. Vishwakarma (ཐགས་བཟང་རིས་, Vishwakarma, the divine architect), blue, riding a chariot, holding a sword in his right hand and a threatening mudra in his left. Visualize all the beings of the three realms surrounding them.
