What need is there to mention offerings? As it says in the first chapter of Sambhuta's 'Second Examination': 'Bow down to your own wife, daughter, male servant, female servant, and sister, and offer everything to the guru. The wise should offer everything to the guru, saying, 'From this day forward, I offer myself to you as a servant.' Thus, make your request.' The reason for doing so: The third question is: Why is it necessary to please the guru even to the point of offering oneself as a servant? Because it is said: 'Even after countless eons, it is difficult to find, but the Buddha himself bestows it in this very life upon the diligent.' Because the state of Buddhahood, which is difficult for others to attain even after countless eons, is bestowed in this Vajrayana in this very life, therefore, it is necessary to please the guru in this way. To whom is it bestowed? It is bestowed upon the most excellent disciples who are endowed with diligence and extremely blazing effort. For those who are not diligent, the failure to attain enlightenment is the fault of the disciple himself. The word 'also' indicates that not only are common accomplishments bestowed in this life, but also supreme accomplishments. How to keep the three constant vows: The fourth question is: 'Always keep your own vows, always worship the Thus-Gone-Ones, always offer to the guru as well; this is no different from all the Buddhas. Because of the inexhaustible desire for that, whatever is slightly pleasing, whatever is extremely special, offer that and that to the guru. Giving that to all the Buddhas, it always becomes giving to them. Giving that is a collection of merit; from that collection, supreme accomplishment arises.' One should always keep the yoga of body, speech, and mind of one's own chosen deity, which is the vow. Shantipa explains that 'always' means abiding in an unwavering discipline with inexhaustible merit and the meaning of protection. One should always make offerings to the Thus-Gone-Ones, such as Vajrasattva, by filling the sky with outer and inner offerings in order to complete the gathering of accumulations. Similarly, one should always offer wealth to the guru, because this is a field of merit for accumulating merit, no different from all the Buddhas. The word 'also' indicates that one should also offer the offerings that are offered to the Thus-Gone-Ones; in short, as mentioned before, one should constantly offer the guru with mandalas, all outer and inner offerings, and material gifts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, in the fourth chapter of 'Vajra Heart Ornament' it is said: 'A wise Vajra disciple, if wishing for all happiness, should offer with devoted mind. Have you not offered what is in your mind? If you have not offered what you have promised, you will surely be born in the preta (hungry ghost) and hell realms, and be destroyed.' This refers to obtaining the inexhaustible Suchness, which, like space, allows one to attain the inexhaustible state of Dharmakaya (Body of Truth). A disciple who desires this should offer to the guru whatever is most pleasing to them, from the slightly liked to the exceptionally special. The guru should also accept offerings in order to reverse the disciple's attachment. As stated in the first section of the second chapter of 'Samputa': 'Whatever is an object of desire, with a selfless mind, offer that to the guru. The guru, being compassionate, should accept it with the intention of benefiting the disciple, in order to reverse their attachment.' The benefit of doing so is that by constantly giving to the guru, one will perfect the accumulation of merit, similar to constantly giving to all Buddhas, and from that accumulation, one will quickly attain supreme accomplishment, let alone other accomplishments. This shows that the attainment of accomplishment for a practitioner does not arise without cause, but depends on a corresponding cause, and accumulating merit is one of them, and accumulating merit also depends on the guru, so it can be easily perfected, therefore the Vajra master is shown as the supreme field for accumulating merit. In the 'Sequence of Five Stages of Empowerment' it is also said: 'Abandon all offerings, and properly make offerings to the guru. By pleasing him, one will attain the supreme wisdom of omniscience. The supreme act is offering to the Vajrasattva (Diamond Being) of the guru. What merit has he not done by doing this? What asceticism has he not practiced?' Therefore, from 'With all effort' to 'From accumulation, supreme accomplishment will occur,' the six verses, except for these six verses, the rest are excerpted from the second chapter of the 'Sri Paramadya Tantra,' of which the first and fifth verses also appear in the thirteenth chapter of the 'Guhya Tantra'. Viewing the Guru as Buddha The second is to view the guru as Buddha, which is divided into two parts: the meaning of the main text and the prohibition of disrespect towards shadows, etc. The first part is: Therefore, the disciple should have compassion, and possess the qualities of discipline and patience. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
