And those who fully comprehend will possess exceedingly wonderful qualities. Furthermore, those Blessed Ones will not engage in the perception of self, nor will they perceive beings, life, or individuals. Why is that? Because the Blessed Ones' perception of self, perception of beings, perception of life, and perception of individuals is precisely for the sake of being separated from all perceptions. Why is that? Because the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are for the sake of being separated from all perceptions. When this was said, the Blessed One addressed the venerable Subhuti, saying: Subhuti, it is so, it is so. Those beings who, upon hearing this discourse, are neither frightened nor alarmed, nor utterly terrified, will possess exceedingly wonderful qualities. Why is that? Subhuti, this supreme perfection of wisdom has been spoken by the Tathagata. That supreme perfection of wisdom spoken by the Tathagata has also been spoken by immeasurable, countless Buddhas, the Blessed Ones. Therefore, it is called the supreme perfection of wisdom. Furthermore, Subhuti, that which the Tathagata spoke of as the perfection of patience is, in reality, not a perfection. Why is that? Subhuti, when the Kalinga king severed my limbs, at that time, I did not have a perception of self, nor a perception of beings, nor a perception of life, nor a perception of an individual. I had no perception whatsoever, nor was I in a state of non-perception. Why is that? Subhuti, if at that time I had a perception of self, then I would have also had a perception of malice. If I had a perception of beings, a perception of life, or a perception of an individual, then I would have also had a perception of malice. Subhuti, I know through clairvoyance that in the past, I was a sage called the "Speaker of Patience" for five hundred lifetimes. Even at that time, I did not have a perception of self, nor a perception of beings, nor a perception of life, nor a perception of an individual.

does not arise knowing. Subhuti, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should completely abandon all perceptions and generate the mind towards unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. One should generate the mind without dwelling on form. One should generate the mind without dwelling on sound, smell, taste, touch. One should generate the mind without dwelling on dharma. One should generate the mind without dwelling on non-dharma. One should generate the mind without dwelling on anything whatsoever. Why is that? Because whatever is dwelling is itself non-dwelling. Therefore, the Tathagata said, "A Bodhisattva should give alms without dwelling on anything." Furthermore, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva should give alms in this way for the benefit of all sentient beings. Whatever is the perception of sentient beings is itself without perception. The sentient beings that the Tathagata speaks of as all sentient beings are themselves non-existent. Why is that? Subhuti, the Tathagata is a speaker of truth, a speaker of reality, a speaker of suchness. The Tathagata is not a speaker of falsehood. Furthermore, Subhuti, in any dharma that the Tathagata has fully awakened to or taught, there is neither truth nor falsehood. Subhuti, it is like this: for example, if a person with eyes enters darkness, he sees nothing. Similarly, one should observe a Bodhisattva who gives alms while clinging to things. Furthermore, Subhuti, it is like this: for example, when dawn breaks and the sun rises, a person with eyes can see various forms. Similarly, one should observe a Bodhisattva who gives alms without clinging to things. Furthermore, Subhuti, whatever son or daughter of good family takes up, upholds, recites, understands this discourse on dharma, and extensively and accurately reveals it to others, the Tathagata knows them, the Tathagata sees them. All those sentient beings will generate an immeasurable accumulation of merit. Furthermore, Subhuti, whatever man or woman,

Moreover, if someone were to completely give away bodies as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in the morning, and again give away bodies as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River at midday and in the afternoon, and were to continue giving in this manner for countless billions of kalpas, it would not compare to someone who, upon hearing this teaching, does not reject it. That person would generate immeasurably more merit than that. What need is there to mention someone who writes it down, receives it, holds it, recites it, fully comprehends it, and extensively and accurately teaches it to others? Furthermore, Subhuti, this teaching is inconceivable and incomparable. Its ripening is also to be known as inconceivable. This teaching has been spoken by the Tathagata for the sake of beings who have truly entered the supreme vehicle, and for the sake of beings who have truly entered the most excellent vehicle. Those who receive, hold, recite, fully comprehend, and extensively and accurately teach this teaching to others are known by the Tathagata, seen by the Tathagata. All those beings will possess an immeasurable accumulation of merit, possessing an inconceivable, incomparable, unmeasurable, and limitless accumulation of merit. All those beings will be touched by my enlightenment. Why is that? Subhuti, those who are inclined towards inferior things are unable to listen to this teaching. Those who hold to a view of self cannot, those who hold to a view of beings cannot, those who hold to a view of life cannot, and those who hold to a view of a person cannot listen, receive, hold, recite, or fully comprehend it, because it is impossible. Furthermore, Subhuti, whatever place this sutra is taught, that place will be worthy of being honored by the world, including gods, humans, and asuras. That place will be worthy of being prostrated to and circumambulated, and that place will become like a stupa.
