It is explained by summarizing into four appearances, and the explanation tradition of other schools is to explain through five ways: the state of intrinsic things, the appearance of delusion due to non-realization, the way all-knowing ones see, the way compassion arises from love, and how to benefit sentient beings, and it is explained through these five ways. The current way of explaining is based on Vimalamitra's fundamental text, which says: "For the best, indicate the name; for the middle, explain; for the worst, unravel the words." As it is said, "For the best, indicate the name" means explaining by indicating the name of the tantra to those with the highest faculties. "For the middle, explain" means explaining by distinguishing the general meaning of the tantra to those with middle faculties. "For the worst, unravel the words" means explaining by unraveling each word to those with the lowest faculties. First, indicating the name of the tantra to those with the highest faculties is based on the fundamental text which says: "The best name is known in three ways: the illusory essence, the general collection of scriptures, like the veins of the hand, understand the beginning and end." This is what is shown. Among them, "The best name is known in three ways" means that the name indicated to those with the highest faculties has three aspects. What are the three? "The illusory essence, the general collection of scriptures," is what is shown. "Illusory" refers to Vajrasattva Mayajala, which is a name that corresponds to the tantra. "Essence" refers to the secret essence, which is the only truth, and is a name that corresponds to the oral instructions. "The general collection of scriptures" refers to the general collection of all sutras and tantras, and is a name that corresponds to the teachings. "Like the veins of the hand, understand the beginning and end" shows how the highest faculties rely on these three names to realize the meaning of the tantra. "Like the veins of the hand" shows the example, and "understand the beginning and end" shows the meaning of the example. For example, just as an experienced doctor relies on the patient's hand veins to identify all the diseases of the body from head to toe, those with the highest faculties also rely on the three names of tantra, teachings, and oral instructions to easily realize all the meanings of the tantra from beginning to end, therefore it is called understanding the beginning and end. Thus it is said. In this way, the first of the three names, which commonly indicates the names of the tantra, the main deity of the mandala, and the speaker, is Vajrasattva Mayajala, which has two parts to the name, namely Vajrasattva.

Explaining the brave and explaining the net of illusion. First, Vajrasattva also has two parts: explaining Vajra and explaining Sattva. First, the meaning of Vajra is, as stated in the "Explanatory Tantra Mirror": "The nature without difference, is called Vajra." Vajra is the wisdom of emptiness whose nature is indivisible. Then, with what nature is Vajra indivisible? It is indivisible with the nature of emptiness of all dharmas. Emptiness is called Vajra, as stated in the "Equal Union": "Vajra is explained as emptiness." The second part of the name, "Sattva," is, as the text says: "All dharmas are without exception empty of duality, self-awareness is the nature of Bodhicitta." Furthermore, the word "Sattva" comes from the Sanskrit word "sattva", and has about six meanings: sentient being, brave, strong-minded, firm, collected, and realized. Here, it refers to the three meanings of firm, collected, and realized. First, the meaning of firm is: the appearing aspect of the above-mentioned wisdom of emptiness is the self-arisen wisdom of skillful means and knowledge. Thus, the realm and wisdom are like fire and heat, residing as great union from the beginning, and from sentient beings to Buddhas, the nature has no good or bad, and the essence does not change at all times, so it is called the firm Vajrasattva. Second, the meaning of collected is: because all the dharmas of samsara and nirvana are sealed by his mudra, they are collected into equality. That is, he has become the life force of all dharmas, so he dwells in the center, and in the realm of mind itself, all moving and unmoving dharmas are collected into equality, so he is the collected Vajrasattva. Third, the meaning of realization is: when a person seeking liberation strives for both the path of skillful means and liberation, and realizes that the mind is the Buddha, this is called the realized Vajrasattva or the fruit Vajrasattva. The former two are established in relation to the state of abiding, and the latter is established from the aspect of the appearance being free from defilement. It is said that the Vajrasattva of the two stages of the path should also be understood to be similar to the fruit Vajrasattva. Therefore, the tantra is named Vajrasattva.
