Bodhisattvas from the third to the seventh bhūmi take birth through samādhi. Although they attain the four dhyānas that make the samādhi of the mind workable, they do not take birth in the form realm as a result, but take birth in the desire realm. Wherever they contemplate, they take birth through samādhi. Bodhisattvas residing on the three pure bhūmis have the autonomy to manifest in any place and in any form, so it is believed that they take birth through the power of mastery. They also show manifestations such as the emanation body descending from Tushita into the womb, and they show various kinds of births. Bodhisattvas who are followers of faith may also be born through aspiration, but mostly they are born through the power of karma. The first and second bhūmis also have births through samādhi, but mostly they are born through aspiration. From the third to the seventh bhūmi, it is samādhi, and those on the pure bhūmis, having attained the ten powers, take birth through the power of mastery. There are two types of uncertain Śrāvakas who enter the Great Vehicle and attain Buddhahood: those who have seen the truth of their own vehicle, the Srotāpanna, Sakṛdāgāmin, and Anāgāmin; and those who have not seen the truth, the ordinary beings who are followers of faith. Among those who have seen the truth, there are also the Anāgāmin who are free from desire for desire, and the Srotāpanna and Sakṛdāgāmin who are not free from desire for the desire realm. If Śrāvaka Āryas, who prevent birth in saṃsāra from the side of the back, having attained the noble path, enter the Great Vehicle, and need to be born in saṃsāra to accomplish the completion, maturation, and purification for three countless kalpas, then how do those who have attained the path of exhausting existence take birth in saṃsāra? The Srotāpanna and Sakṛdāgāmin, who are not free from desire for desire, when entering the Great Vehicle, the way they take birth is that, out of compassion for suffering beings, they aspire to be born in those places where they wish to benefit sentient beings, and thus they strive to accomplish the characteristics of those births, and after being born, they benefit and bring happiness to sentient beings, accumulate the two accumulations, and ultimately attain Buddhahood. Those who are free from desire for desire, because they possess the state of Anāgāmin, will not themselves be in the desire realm.

Though unborn, through the emanation of samadhi, he demonstrates birth in samsara, thereby accomplishing the accumulation of merit and attaining enlightenment. Those of the Hearer Vehicle who enter the Great Vehicle are inferior to those ordinary beings who enter the Great Vehicle. Because they are accustomed to the mind of self-interest and delight in nirvana, their realization of the fruit of the Great Vehicle is slow, it is asserted. In the Teaching of Vimalakirti, Manjushri, having become a youth, said to Vimalakirti: "Son of good family, it is like this: in a desolate sandy place, lotuses (Sanskrit, Padma, padma, lotus), utpalas (Sanskrit, Utpala, utpala, blue lotus), kumudas (Sanskrit, Kumuda, kumuda, water lily), white lotuses (Sanskrit, Pundarika, pundarika, white lotus), and excellent fragrances do not grow. But if cultivated in mud and water, lotuses (Sanskrit, Padma, padma, lotus), utpalas (Sanskrit, Utpala, utpala, blue lotus), kumudas (Sanskrit, Kumuda, kumuda, water lily), white lotuses (Sanskrit, Pundarika, pundarika, white lotus), and excellent fragrances will grow. Son of good family, similarly, for those beings who have attained certainty without effort, the dharmas of the Buddhas do not arise. But for those beings who are born in the mud and water of afflictions, the dharmas of the Buddhas arise." So it is said. From the Bilingual Concordance: Maru: desert, the name of a sandy place without water. Dhanvā: desolate sandy place. Dhanva is dry or sandy. From the Commentary on the Treasury of Reality: Furthermore, all dharmas are without self-nature, spontaneously accomplished from the beginning, without limit or bias, and gathered into the state of the sole self-born wisdom, these are four. So it is said. From the Treasury of the Supreme Vehicle: Furthermore, in relation to the essence of original purity, in the samaya of Trekchö, all that appears as the dharma of samsara, all that appears, sentient beings and environment, inner and outer, is primordially non-existent, like water in a mirage, etc., knowing it through the eight examples of illusion, therefore there is a need to liberate from the clinging to the reality of appearances. In the state of knowing that there is no place inside or outside, the awareness that is not bound by the rope of mental grasping is relaxed, cultivating in the vast expanse of the uninterrupted. Without making any clinging, the five gates are wide open, the awareness without place is nakedly released without support, letting it be relaxed, this is called relaxation, therefore there is a need for appearances to be liberated into dharmata. In relation to the spontaneous accomplishment of self-nature, in the samaya of Tögal, with the qualities of self-born wisdom spontaneously accomplished, without relying on accumulation, making the determination that it is accomplished by self-knowing self-liberation. The practice of the four visions, the essence of the five lights, self-luminous and spontaneously accomplished.
