Becoming, where it is completely mixed, that is said to be union. Thus it is said. Mipham Rinpoche said, if certainty about equality gradually arises, then the initial karma, etc. Furthermore, all actions of what cause produces what effect are called the intelligence of action. All the effects that have become sprouts, etc., are necessarily dependent on their respective causes, which is the reason of dependence. Thus, what cause produces what effect, and the effect depends on that cause, these are places where they can become cause and effect to each other, such as virtuous actions produce happiness, non-virtuous actions produce suffering, or rice seeds produce rice sprouts, etc. Conversely, not producing, virtue produces suffering, non-virtue produces happiness, barley seeds produce rice sprouts, etc., are not places. With these two initial reasons, through knowing the place and non-place of all phenomena, acceptance and rejection, and entering and leaving are done. Therefore, all sciences such as crafts, and all tenets of the world and beyond the world, are also rooted in discriminating observation through these two methods. Therefore, the more skilled one is in knowing the place and non-place, the more pure and excellent the methods of science and tenets become. The reason of the nature of phenomena is that, in terms of convention, phenomena abide in their own nature, such as earth being solid, water being moist, and sky being unobstructed, etc. Moreover, even for a single phenomenon like a vase, there are many establishments of proof such as being impermanent, being material, etc., and many phenomena established from the perspective of eliminating or negating such as not being knowledge, not being permanent, etc. But in summary, for a self-characterized, substantially existent vase that has become an object of direct perception, the various establishments of difference such as made, impermanent, etc., which are nominally established by way of excluding others, are made in conjunction with a mind that has conceptualization, therefore they are summarized into two ways of substance and nominal, from which arise self-character and general character, general and particular, contradictory and related, and name and meaning, etc., which rely on the establishment of various names that agree in meaning.
