Although it is said that way, in general, among the practitioners of Kriya Tantra, there is no practice of visualizing oneself as the deity. Especially in individual cases, there are teachings on visualizing oneself as the deity. Since there are very many profound methods explained by relying on the oral instructions of Vajrapani and Dakinis, the compilers of the tantras, it should be known that following the great chariots of this path, such as Acharya Buddhaguhya, who have attained accomplishment and are widely known as scholars in the world, is very reasonable and is the great path of accomplishment. Furthermore, the view of those who have entered the vehicle of Kriya Tantra is: in the ultimate truth, all dharmas are without origination and cessation in their own nature; in the conventional truth, one meditates on the body of the deity, possessing bodhicitta and samadhi, which are said to be the vessel of accomplishment. Thus, when one focuses single-pointedly on the clarity of visualizing oneself as the deity and transforms it into the power of samadhi, the mantras will be quickly accomplished. Among these, the essence of the deity, like life, is the secret mantra, and this mantra must also be practiced through the two methods of contemplation and recitation. In terms of contemplation, generally, one places seed syllables and mantra garlands on the moon disc, etc., at the heart of the deity, and performs the visualization of radiating and withdrawing light. Especially according to the oral instructions, the Ornament of Clear Realization says: "Letters are joined with letters, likewise, bases become bases, in a very concentrated mind, recite a hundred thousand times." Among these, "letters are joined with letters" refers to: the first letter is bodhicitta, the second letter is the sound of the mantra; the first base is visualizing one's own body as the deity, the second base is the wisdom deity visualized in front. It is said that one should recite the mantra through the gateway of focusing on these four. As it is said in the Subsequent Samadhi Sutra: "Rely on sound, mind, and base, the secret mantra remains unchanging in the base, recite the secret mantra without diminishing the limbs." Among these, sound is the garland of the syllables of the mantra. Mind is the bodhicitta, free from conceptualization, extremely pure, stainless, firm, unwavering, profound, subtle (Sanskrit: sūkṣma), like a mirror, that is what appears as the form of the moon disc. The base is the body of the Tathagata residing in front.

Focusing single-pointedly. "Immutable mantra" refers to the four bases being clear and stable. The latter base in "abiding in the base" is my base, meaning focusing single-pointedly on clearly visualizing oneself as the deity. Thus, it is said that mantras should be recited with samadhi that does not lack the four limbs. Therein, there are three realities of recitation. As it says in "Thatness": "Mantra residing in fire, bestows accomplishment; sound residing, remember to bestow yoga; sound's end, truly bestows liberation. These are the three realities." As such, what is the first, "mantra residing in fire"? In the heart of oneself and the deity in front, within a non-conceptual form, free from tangibility, on top of a clear, luminous, and stainless moon mandala. Thinking of a nature that is harmless, painless, and pleasing, a supremely peaceful flame with excellent light, residing within that flame. The second reality, "residing in sound," is: The continuous string of mantra syllables, the sound clear and distinct, appearing uninterruptedly in the mind like the sound of a bell, the mind focused single-pointedly, the clear appearance stable, this is called the base of mantra, that is, without verbal recitation, thinking of holding the deity's essence, the mantra's sound, in the mind. The third reality, "sound's end," is: The appearance of sound vanishes and is invisible, the place of vanishing is the boundless dharmadhatu. How to make the appearance of sound vanish? The place of the appearance of sound, holding onto the appearance of the form of syllables, and also abandoning the mental and whispered recitations that manifest sound. The nature, which is the appearance of sound, also vanishes, becoming invisible, meditating on abiding in the meaning of peace, primordially unborn, this is abandoning all dependence and effort. In short, the immutable meditation on the four bases of mantra is recitation that does not lack limbs, therefore it is called the reality of recitation, and one should recite in this way. My reality, before the meaning of the five aggregates is distinguished by discriminating thought, is "I," and its reality is: If it agrees with the Shravakas, then this collection of the five aggregates is the self that is completely conceived by the Tirthikas.
