This is the fourth stage. In these stages, sinking and excitement must be cut off. Therefore, as a remedy for sinking, rays of light are emitted and withdrawn from the mantra in the heart, and the mind is uplifted by exhaling, inhaling, counting breaths, etc. As a remedy for excitement, one should learn the yoga of subtle bindus. In the first two stages, on either of the two tips of the central channel, above or below, visualize a bindu the size of a mustard seed, dark blue in color, whose essence is a deity, or round in shape, possessing three characteristics, and focus on this bindu. This is the yoga of bindus. In the latter two stages, visualize yourself clearly as Guhyasamaja Akshobhya Vajra, and drop a bindu into the mandala of the consort. Within it, the complete mandala of glorious Guhyasamaja, along with the body mandala, can be clearly visualized without mixing even the black and white parts of the eyes. The Guhyasamaja consort mandala within the bindu can also be visualized clearly in the manner of a "son." If it can also be visualized in this way, that is the manner of a "grandson," and when it can be visualized so clearly, the subtle yoga is said to be perfected. In the second of the above four stages, the generation stage is not attained, and in the third stage, it is said that it is attained. Cutting off sinking and excitement is not just for the sake of achieving calm abiding, but when the generation stage taught here is perfected, calm abiding is naturally accomplished. Is it necessary to distinguish the differences in the methods of practice? Regarding this question, the oral tradition says: First, during the time of investigation, one should strive for great bliss, and then, in order to achieve siddhis, one must go through fire offerings and so on. Outsiders, on the other hand, strive for siddhis from the beginning, making the vessel of siddhis suitable with white light, and collecting siddhis by emitting and withdrawing red light, and perform tsok practice in order to obtain siddhis through various methods. Afterwards, without relying on fire offerings and so on, the vidyadhara of the desire realm body is accomplished. The vidyadhara of the desire realm body is: a deity who is not separated from desire, such as a vidyadhara in the form of Indra, the lord of the gods, and a vidyadhara in the form of Brahma's body, who is free from attachment. Regarding the two methods of placement, the notes say: It is understood as not losing mindfulness, so it is a general pouring. It is not clear or unclear, so it is not losing awareness. And, when one is accustomed to this...

Seeing all appearances as the play of clear light is called 'mixing.' The oral tradition says: It must be understood as emptiness and form appearing before awareness, free from dualistic grasping. Those appearances of emptiness and form are seen as self-appearances. Abandoning the clinging to one's own physical body, and single-mindedly placing the pure and impure appearances of emptiness and form in equanimity, it will expand even more than before, thereby perfecting the play. The notes say: As mentioned above, by meditating on all appearances as the play of clear light, all appearances will appear as the yoga of bliss-wisdom that is the play of the sphere of reality (Tibetan: དབྱིངས་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ākāśa, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: ākāśa, literal Chinese meaning: void) without clinging (Tibetan: མི༵་དམིགས༵་པ་) and without differentiation (Tibetan: དབྱེར་མི་ཕྱེད་པའི༵་) of bliss (Tibetan: བདེ༵་བའི༵་) wisdom (Tibetan: ཡོ༵་ལང༵་) (Tibetan: འབའ༵་ཞིག༵་ཏུ༵་འཆར༵). When these obtain the distinction of clarity and stability, until the end of the session, one can remain unmoving in emptiness (Tibetan: སྟོང༵་) form (Tibetan: གཟུགས༵་) etc. From the beginning, whatever appearance of emptiness and form arises, thinking that it is actually transformed into the same deity form, this will produce a slight factor of propulsion (Tibetan: རྐྱེན༵་ཅུང༵་ཟད༵་སོགས༵). Similarly, there are two ways to carry the meditation practiced during the day into the yoga of the night: carrying it through the power of wind and the power of intention. The first is: In the stage of the first yoga, when awake, through the power of the three steps of wind entering the central channel, abiding, and dissolving, the great emptiness clear light can be manifested, thus the heart chakra will be clear. Focusing the mind on this, when entering sleep, recognizing the four emptinesses of sleep or the wisdom clear light of the three appearances, increase, and attainment, and combining bliss and emptiness, one can actually transform it into the great emptiness of the path. After that, one begins to waver from the clear light, and even if one wavers, one can recognize it, and because of a slight factor of propulsion, one can connect the appearance of emptiness and form during the day with the dream state, thereby becoming accustomed to illusory compassion. This can also be transformed into an expansion of a single mudra. The four, such as 'great emptiness' here, are characterized. It is said that at this time, the breath through the nostrils ceases. The second is: For those who cannot do it through the power of wind as mentioned above, they learn in order to be able to do so. Thus the throat chakra will be clear. Thinking that one must recognize the four emptinesses of sleep, and thinking that one must enter the great emptiness etc. in sequence, one puts it under the object of focus and then falls asleep.
