View: Meditation that cuts through to one point, and conduct that abides in the state of confidence and liberation, are taught as three. If you wish to be liberated from all lower views, then let the view abide like a mountain king. If you wish the power of meditation to be strong and powerful, or to manifest the fruition of the three kayas, then let meditation abide like an ocean. If you wish to cultivate the skill of conduct, then let conduct abide like appearances. If you wish to manifest the fruition of the three kayas, then let the fruition abide like awareness. View abiding like a mountain king is when the awareness of the ground, naked and unobstructed, cannot be moved by the conceptualizations of the five skandhas and the eight consciousnesses, remaining as stable as a mountain king. Also, the instruction of recognition should be without additions or omissions in words, without the movement of errors in meaning, and possessing the practice of the lineage. Even the student should be without doubts of yes or no, without the faults of others, and without the movement of mistaken thoughts and attachments. It is best if the present awareness is directly recognized. If not, it must be guided by a particularly special ascertainment of inference. Meditation abiding like an ocean is when the view of the union of awareness and emptiness is equally placed in a state of self-clarity, free from obscurations and veils. The five gates are wide open and unobstructed, and the appearances of the six consciousnesses are unceasing, abiding equally and relaxed. For example, like an ocean undisturbed by conditions, the objects of appearance such as the sun, moon, and stars are clearly visible. Conduct abiding like appearances is when all appearances and awarenesses equally enter into self-liberation, like a person with an impartial mind visiting a temple, similar to the five ways of liberation. Fruition abiding like awareness is when, ultimately, the two obscurations are completely purified, and the fruition of the three kayas is manifested. And when, temporarily, the self-nature of awareness is stable, it again enters into spontaneous liberation, like a person cured of smallpox, or like the fruit of the acacia tree that does not revert to being a seed. The nail of penetrating wisdom and the nail of liberating view are both view. The nail of the self-purifying lamp and the nail of the self-opening five gates are both meditation. The nail of the self-purifying essence and the nail of the non-dharmic awareness are both conduct. The nail of the self-perfected dharmakaya is fruition, which is applied to the four abidings. Second, Tögal (Leap Over), divided into three: preliminaries, main practice, and conclusion. The first is the taming of the three doors of body, speech, and mind.

One understands actions and so forth from others. Second, introducing the actual self-appearing wisdom mandala: the body's key points are three postures, the speech's key points are four of reciting and stabilizing in the training grounds, the mind's key point is directing towards the sky without the influence of wind and mind. Focusing on the key points of the three doors, the door's key point is the unmoving long shot, the place's key point is directing towards the space between the eyebrows and the sky, the wind-awareness's key point is being extremely slow. Differentiating, there are: the wind of coming and going action, the wind of conceptual aggregates and afflictions, the wind of awareness and wisdom. The wind goes outward to the lungs, awareness comes inward and dissolves into the heart, mind and wisdom turn their backs. In the enclosure of the outer sphere, when bindus and awareness-radiance remain without movement, seeing the self-appearing wisdom mandala manifestly is introduced through the means of the five aggregates and so forth. Third, there are four: four lamps, four appearances, the instructions of the boundary support, and the advice of the bardo. The first has four: The lamp of the far-reaching water is the root connecting from the heart to the eye, like the horn of a ram, it is the lamp of the door's far-reaching water. It is holding the illusion of the impure far-reaching or the clear light appearance of the pure far-reaching of the wisdom that is the support. Second, the lamp of the empty bindu is the round circle of five lights, with a red-yellow nature in the center, and tiny bindus the size of mustard seeds and so forth. Third, the lamp of the pure dimension is that the place of the lamp is the sky, and awareness is directed to the space between the eyebrows, the outer dimension of blue mountains appears first, and the inner dimension that arises from it is like a silk tent, awareness arises in the enclosure of radiance. Fourth, the lamp of self-arisen wisdom is that the inner awareness is extremely clear, and experiencing something without a place is the essence, the spontaneous bursting forth of the words and meanings of the Dharma is the power, like golden threads, a net of flowers, knots untied on a horse's tail, pearls strung on a string, these are the continuous stream of awareness-radiance. Furthermore, the lamp of citta-flesh is the place where awareness resides, the lamp of the basis of reality is the nature of awareness itself, the lamp of the white smooth vein is the path, the lamp of clear light wisdom is the time when dimension and awareness are mixed, the lamp of the bardo time is spoken of as the time when the self-appearing dharmata bardo arises.
