Among the five liberations, the first is original liberation: the very basis of appearance is the union of awareness and emptiness. Because it is not tainted by the grasping of the five aggregates and the eight consciousnesses, nor by any phenomena such as virtue and vice, it transcends bondage and liberation. Therefore, there is no need to strive again for liberation. Both appearance and awareness have never been established in the beginning, middle, or end of the ground. Therefore, both object and subject are originally liberated, and there is no need for further liberation, as if liberation has already been completed. First, at the point of arising, there are three aspects: arising, abiding, and ceasing. In the middle, the place of abiding, the abider is empty in essence. Finally, the cessation is empty by its own characteristic. Second is self-liberation: it does not rely on antidotes, nor is it liberated by other conditions. It is not that one is doing the act of liberating oneself. When awareness is able to penetrate conditions, thoughts cannot take hold, and like a snake knot, they naturally dissolve, purifying without a trace. Third is staring liberation: train the thoughts of appearance and awareness on the general Dharma of seeing and hearing, and train on fragments of Dharma. From the very beginning of things like pillars, oppress with the great key point of the way the eyes look, and liberate by staring. That is, awareness does not cling to objects, appearance does not taint awareness, the connection between appearance and awareness is severed, one falls in the interval of the transformation of abiding, appearance dawns in emptiness, and awareness dawns in no-reliance, dawns without obstruction, enjoys without attachment, and liberates without reliance. The two, appearance and awareness, vanish in the place of seeing. Fourth is extreme liberation: the essence of awareness, from the aspect of unborn, is liberated from the extreme of existence, but from the aspect of unceasing, it does not abide in the extreme of non-existence. Because the continuum is unbroken, although it is liberated from the extreme of non-existence, it is not permanent and substantial, so it does not abide in the extreme of existence. Because the display of power appears in various ways, it is not established as one. The nature of liberation from the extreme of being established in many ways, because the essence is free from elaboration, is Samantabhadra. Do not think outwards towards external objects, do not cling inwards to the mind, do not abide in the unborn in the middle, but leave awareness naked and pure. Fifth is one liberation: the two truths are inseparable, awareness is free from elaboration. The Dharmakaya bindu is unique. If one does not lose the unique nature of original wisdom that is thorough and clear, then all the movements of the body, the speech of language, and the thoughts of the mind are non-existent, only clear appearance, not established as the essence of awareness. Therefore, it naturally dawns as the body, speech, and mind of the Buddhas. Second, the instruction on distinguishing is divided into ten aspects: the distinction between mind, awareness, and meaning.

Does. Abiding nature of, Emanating power of, Liberation method key of, Ground of all Dharmakaya of, Delusion liberation time of, Ground result spontaneous accomplishment of, Path result primordial purity of, Bardo deity of, Exhaling and inhaling breath's distinction, thus explained. First, the distinction between mind and awareness meaning is: It is not a distinction like the abiding and emanating of mind, but rather a distinction between the two aspects of clear awareness of the present moment. Mind is the eight consciousness aggregates, the fifty-one mental factors, and the eighty conceptual thoughts, which are conditioned momentary, ignorance, subject to arising and ceasing, dependent on conditions, having delusion and liberation, dependent on the three times, and so on. Awareness is beyond these, unconditioned, the nakedly transparent wisdom, without error or confusion. Meditating on these for seven days each is the practice of the lamas. Mind and awareness are the distinction between two consciousnesses. Mind and wisdom are combined with wind. Second, the distinction of abiding nature is: Mind abiding in one-pointedness without thought, and awareness abiding in one-pointedness without thought, although the two are similar only in abiding, mind does not separate from the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-thought clinging, awareness abides in objectless transparency. Mind abides calmly like a still pond. Awareness is the clear wisdom of insight that has not arisen in objects. The first three of the sixteen similarities can be applied here. Third, the distinction of emanating power is: The power of awareness and ignorance are similar only in the way they appear in objects, but the way of liberation is different. The example of awareness is like mercury falling on the ground, it does not grasp objects. The example of mind is like the light of the fifteenth moon merging with mind, or like dry earth meeting a drop of water, it grasps objects. The fourth, thirteenth, and fourteenth of the sixteen similarities can be applied here. Fourth, the distinction of the key of the method of liberation is: Having thus known the difference between mind and awareness, the part of mind that is the nature of samsara is purified in self-liberation, and the way in which the essence of awareness manifests is: The eight vehicles take the manifested dharma as the path by practicing it, the Great Perfection takes the basis of manifestation as the path by practicing it. Among these, the Hearers abandon, the Bodhisattvas purify, the Outer Tantras transform, the Inner Tantras Maha and Anu accept and take as the path by means of skillful means. Mind
