Protecting with the mind of enlightenment means possessing the conduct of a Bodhisattva. As soon as he said this, he jumped into the pit of fire. That pit of fire turned into a pool of flowers, and the prince sat on a lotus, and the gods rained down flowers until they were knee-deep. ༈ Furthermore, in the past, in this Jambudvipa, the Bhagavan himself became a great king named Bilingagarli. When he sought someone to teach the sacred Dharma, a Brahmin named Leu Ducha said, "If you have a thousand iron nails hammered into your body, I will give you the Dharma." He agreed to this. The Brahmin said, "All conditioned things are impermanent, all births are accompanied by suffering, all phenomena are empty and without self, and I also do not exist." He was pleased with these words and had a thousand iron nails hammered into his body. Then, by uttering words of truth, his body became as before. ༈ Regarding the occasions of various teachings such as direct and indirect, and those requiring interpretation. The difference between direct and indirect meaning is: teaching that all phenomena are emptiness is definitive meaning; teaching about sentient beings, persons, and individuals is provisional meaning. The eight different characteristics of direct and indirect meaning are, as it is said: Entering the path is provisional meaning, entering the fruit is definitive meaning. Establishing conventional truth is provisional meaning, establishing ultimate truth is definitive meaning. Engaging in the activity of karma is provisional, teaching the cessation of karma and afflictions is definitive. Teaching about all afflictions is provisional, teaching about purification is definitive meaning. The arising of samsara is provisional meaning, the non-duality of samsara and nirvana is definitive meaning. Teaching various words and phrases is provisional, being profound and difficult to examine is definitive meaning. Many words pleasing sentient beings is provisional, few words easy to grasp is definitive meaning. Primarily explaining about self, etc., is provisional meaning, teaching about selflessness is definitive meaning. Like this. "Intended meaning" means that, for the most part, it should not be taken literally, but rather in a way that is twisted and transformed into another form, of which there are four types. The "intended meaning of introduction" refers to gradually introducing the teachings of the Hearers (Shravakas). Saying that the forms and other phenomena of the selflessness of persons exist, by saying "form exists," the listener understands it as established in meaning and enters, while the speaker intends it to exist like a dream in appearance. The "intended meaning of characteristics" refers to the three characteristics,

Or, from the perspective of the ultimate truth, it is like saying that there is no self-nature, and that it is originally in Nirvana, and so on. That is, the imputed nature is without self-nature, because it is not actually established. The dependent nature is without self-nature of arising, because arising from the four possibilities is not established. The perfectly established nature is without self-nature of the ultimate truth, because it is the ultimate truth, and the nature of impurity and other elaborations does not exist. Considering it euphemistically as an antidote is to remove the objects to be abandoned in the minds of the beings to be tamed. For example, the Shakya king who appeared when the lifespan was one hundred years was short in stature, and his lifespan was only eighty years, and the land he relied on was also impure, and the beings to be tamed also had the five degenerations. Buddhas like Vipashyin, etc., appeared in the auspicious and perfect kalpa, so those are superior. My teacher is inferior to them. To counteract this contempt for the Buddha, it is like saying that I became the Buddha Vipashyin at that time. The listener thinks that Vipashyin is also the teacher, so they hold it without high or low. The speaker considers the three aspects of the same accumulation of merit, the same attainment of the Dharmakaya, and the same accomplishment of benefiting beings. The Abhidharmakosha says: All Buddhas are equal in merit, Dharmakaya, and activities for the benefit of beings, but not in lifespan, lineage, and body size. It's like this. Considering it euphemistically in translation, some heretics, etc., think that the Buddha's scriptures are easy to understand and despise them, etc. To prevent these, by translating into other words, it is shown to be very difficult to understand, for example: Knowing the unreal as real, dwelling in the inverted, being extremely afflicted by afflictions, one will attain supreme enlightenment. It is said like this. Let me explain what this is considering. Mental distraction is real, but knowing it as unreal. Considering purity, pleasure, permanence, and self as the four inversions, and what is inverted from that is impermanence, suffering, no-self, and impurity. By realizing these, one dwells, and the afflictions of long-term asceticism for the sake of others.
