For the sake of all sentient beings, I wish to hold this wheel on my head. Let no one else who would do such a deed come here!" As soon as he said this, the wheel itself rose up from his head and stood in the sky as high as seven tala trees. There, the daughter of the Bodhisattva Friend passed away and was born in the heavenly realm of Tushita. Therefore, in the case of exchanging self and others, etc., the meaning of "exchanging self and others" is mainly to exchange the two minds of clinging to self-cherishing and abandoning others, thereby generating the mind of cherishing others as oneself and abandoning oneself as others. This must arise from repeatedly familiarizing and habituating oneself to relative Bodhicitta in this stage of ordinary beings. To cherish others more than oneself is that when one attains the noble path through the power of meditating on ultimate Bodhicitta, the meaning of the four equalities becomes manifest: one realizes the equality of self and others in the ultimate, free from elaboration; one realizes the equality of mere illusion in the relative; one realizes the equality of Buddhas and sentient beings; and one realizes the equality of self and Buddhas. At that time, one can truly begin the work of actually benefiting others. Even in this stage of ordinary beings, there are some exceptional individuals who can do this, such as Lama Dharma Rakshita, the six monks and a boatman in Jasa Kokar (place name). When seven people boarded a boat, the boat became heavy. The boatman said, "Rather than everyone dying, it is better for me alone to die." He then jumped into the water, and so on. It is said that the difference between exchanging self and others and cherishing others more than oneself is distinguished from the perspective of thought and action. In the biography of Jowo (Atisha), it is recorded that when a lay teacher of Jowo was teaching Dharma to about five people on a seat, a person hit a dog with a stick, and the lama suddenly fell down. Upon closer inspection, the place where the dog was hit corresponded to the lama's body, which was also swollen and bruised. It is said that this is the extent of equality between self and others. Also in the biography of Jowo, it is recorded that Jowo offered some conch shells to a yogini and asked, "If I am invited by the king of Tibet, will it benefit the sentient beings of Tibet or not?" The yogini replied, "If you go to Tibet, it will definitely be beneficial, especially to a female lay practitioner (Upasika)."

It is said that if one goes to Tibet, one's lifespan will be shortened. When asked how much shorter, it was said that if one does not go to Tibet, one can live to ninety-two years, but if one goes, one can only live to seventy-two years. The Lord's thought was that if it would benefit Tibet, it would be fine even if the lifespan was short, and not to consider the lifespan. It is said that such a thought arose, and that is the act of cherishing others more than oneself. For example, in the case of the prince with great courage, etc. In the past, there was a younger son of King Great Chariot named Great Compassion. He saw that a tigress, after giving birth, was starving and thirsty for many days (six or seven days) and was even about to eat her own children. Out of compassion, he cut open his own body with a branch and let the tigress lick the blood, gradually letting her eat all the flesh, thus giving up his body. As a result, he was born in the Tushita heaven and dispelled the sorrow of his parents. In the "Golden Light Sutra" it says: Shakyamuni Buddha, the Tathagata, I, In the past, a king named Great Chariot, His son was the most excellent of great courage, He who made the tigress happy. The noble king, Shuddhodana, Was once a king named Great Chariot, His queen was also the noble Maya, Great Sound was Maitreya, The prince, Great God, was also like that, He was Manjushri, The one who became the tigress was the great lord of beings, The tiger cubs were the five monks. So it is said. Then, in the "Biographies of the Eighty-Four Accomplished Ones" it says: When Acharya Nagarjuna was making the Buddha's teachings flourish and spread, The demon Delightful Lord of Power became jealous, and various inauspicious omens appeared. Drought caused beings to suffer from famine, The calamities of disease and weapons spread, Flowers, grasses, trees, and forests all withered, and various inauspicious omens appeared. King Sala Bhanja thought: These are not other omens, but omens that are unfavorable to my guru. So he went to Glorious Mountain to see the guru, The guru asked: Child, what brings you here? The king said: Have my and sentient beings' merits been exhausted? Or are the Buddha's teachings about to decline? Is the dark side about to prevail?
