Because I didn't recognize and went on regretting, at a very narrow intersection, I saw a female dog whose lower body was rotting and crawling with worms, and also biting others out of anger, this also disappeared. Immediately a voice came from the sky: Distinguishing beings into the six realms, everything is pure from the beginning. Holding onto good and bad, high and low, it is difficult for you to find a guru. So it was said. Continuing as before, I met a person and asked where Tilopa was. That person said: If you go a little further from here, you will see your guru, striving to do what should not be done, friend, please go quickly. After hearing this, I hurried on and saw a person wanting to kill another person, and asked where the guru was. That person said: First help me cut off this person's head, and then I will show you. Thinking how could this be, that person disappeared, and a voice came from the sky: The head that always clings to self, if not cut off with the sword of wisdom, you will not find a guru, and even if you find one, it is just a meaningless image. So it was said. Regretting as before, I went on and saw a person diligently pulling intestines out of another person's stomach after killing him, and asked where the guru was. That person said: Help me kill this person and pull out his intestines, and I will show you. He said: I cannot be an accomplice in committing evil. As soon as he said this, that person disappeared, and a voice came from the sky: Without cutting the rope of samsara, who can find the state of a guru? Because of clinging to the Lesser Vehicle, the mind is confused about what should and should not be done. So it was said. Again, I went on and met a person washing many dirty intestines by the river, and asked where the guru was. That person said: Help me wash them together, and then I will show you. He said: I cannot wash such disgusting things. That person disappeared, and a voice came from the sky: Without washing away the dirt of afflictions, who can find a guru? Being full of defilements and blaming others for being full of defilements is confusion. Such a voice came. Again, as before, I went on to a place called Delightful Palace, went to see a king, and asked where the guru was, the king

Please offer me your bedding and daughter, and rest for a while. Afterwards, the thing you desire will be accomplished." He listened to his words, and after a long time had passed in the palace of the king of Nalanda, two children, a son and a daughter, were born. Some evil-doers killed the queen and her children. Afterwards, he was very distressed and told the king. The king said, "You have ruined my reputation." Naropa became angry and thought, "This evil king is hindering me from finding a guru, I will kill him with a vidya-mantra." He quickly entered the practice chamber and diligently recited fierce mantras. At that moment, a voice came from the sky, "Attachment, hatred, and ignorance, will surely lead you to the lower realms. You will not find a guru, you have been deceived by the king of illusion." The voice disappeared, and everything became invisible. Afterwards, he went along very regretfully. He encountered a hunter chasing a pitiful deer being chased by dogs, and he asked the hunter where the guru was. The hunter said, "Help me kill this deer, and then I will show you." Naropa thought, "I cannot become an accomplice of the hunter." At that very moment, the hunter disappeared. A voice came from the sky, "With the arrow of non-attachment to the illusory body, draw the bow of the experience of bliss and clarity, if you do not kill the deer of grasping and clinging, how can you find a guru? I am a hunter who delights in killing, begging for food in the monastic community." He heard these words. Afterwards, he continued on as before, and met a monk and asked him where the guru was. One of the monks said, "There is someone called Mutowa Tilopa, have you seen him?" Naropa said, "Please take me to see him." The monk took him along. At a crossroads on a road, there was a very ugly old man, placing a cane and a broken begging bowl on his left, lighting a small fire with smoke, eating a small amount of begged food as if it were delicious. Naropa prostrated and circumambulated him, and then prayed, "Please accept me." Mutowa gave him a handful of lice and said, "Burn all of these in this fire." When he hesitated slightly, that person disappeared. A voice came from the sky, "If you do not burn the thoughts and mental events of discrimination, how can you find a guru? I delight in killing, now to kill fish, I will go to the great ocean." He heard these words. Afterwards, he went to the seashore, a bhikshu...
