Satva (ས་ཏྭ་ལ།), the Tva (ཏྭ་) syllable and the Hum (ཧཱུྃ) syllable, the Hum (ཧཱུྃ) syllable also has a foot hook and a short A, as well as a Ha head. The head contracts from the crescent moon to the bindu (ཐིག་ལེ།) nada (ན་དའི་), and the nada (ནཱ་ད་) also remains slightly calm in an invisible state, like a rainbow disappearing in the sky. When rising from that, again manifest all inner and outer as a joyful pure land, both the support and the supported are clear and bright. By this virtue, may I quickly...etc., perform dedication and aspiration. Thus, remaining calm in the state of the union of emptiness and compassion is the supreme method of confessing sins and downfalls. As it says in the Sutra of Entering the Ultimate Truth: The son of the gods, White Lotus, asked: Manjushri, how should karmic obscurations be purified? Answered: Son of the gods, if you know that karmic obscurations are originally without substance, they will be purified effortlessly, just like wiping a shell stained with charcoal with a cloth. Also, as it says in the Great Liberation Sutra: If you want to perform repentance, sit upright and contemplate the truth. Contemplate the truth itself, seeing the truth, you are liberated. This is called the supreme repentance. Also, as the great scholar Longchenpa said: Some supreme individuals sit in the lotus position, and first speak the name of any sin and downfall in a manner like illusion and dream, and then after confessing to the Buddha and his retinue in the space in front of them, they examine the sin itself within, without, and between the two, from the aspects of essence, form, color, etc., and as a result, they find that it does not arise from anywhere, does not exist anywhere, and does not go anywhere, knowing it to be the nature of emptiness, and abiding in this state, they are liberated from all sins and downfalls. Also, as it says in the Great Liberation Sutra, the Sutra of Expanding in Ten Directions: If a Bodhisattva possesses four qualities, then he will purify the violations of vows and the sins of afflictions. What are the four? That is, knowing that all phenomena have no coming, knowing that all phenomena are not born, seeing that all phenomena do not cease, and that all phenomena arise dependently from causes and conditions, and are empty of inherent existence. If one possesses these four qualities, then violations of vows and sins of afflictions will not occur. And the Dharma King

From the Sutra: If one knows that sentient beings are one and not two, then all obscurations are completely purified. For example, just as a mirror covered with dust for a thousand years is cleared of dust by wiping it with a cloth. Also, like the darkness of a vacant room, even if it has been dark for a thousand years, it can be dispelled by a single lamp. Similarly, if one knows the truth of the mind's lack of inherent existence, then the sins of countless eons will be purified in an instant. Thus, if one confesses with the four powers, connected with the view of emptiness and the mind of enlightenment, there is no sin that cannot be purified. The glorious protector, the noble Nagarjuna, said: "Whoever was once heedless, but later becomes mindful, is as beautiful as the moon freed from clouds, like Nanda, Angulimala, Drdhadatta, and Sukha." Nanda was extremely attached to women, and the Blessed One showed him the fear of hell, causing him to be afraid. Then, by teaching him the Dharma, he attained the state of an Arhat. Angulimala, the angry son of a Brahmin, was deceived by his teacher who told him that if he killed a thousand people and made a garland of their fingers, he would be able to fly through the sky. He killed nine hundred and ninety-nine people. Later, the Blessed One ordained him and taught him the Dharma, and he attained the state of an Arhat. Drdhadatta was Ajatashatru, who, having met the evil friend Devadatta, killed his Dharma-abiding father, King Bimbisara, and committed many other sins. Later, he gained faith in the Teacher and was liberated from the results of his sins. Sukha used to go to commit adultery with other people's wives, and when his mother stopped him, he killed her. Later, he went to another place, gathered many monks, and properly maintained them with the Dharma. After that life, he was born in hell, like a silk cloth being dropped on the ground. After dying from hell, he was born as a god and attained the fruit of stream-entry. Therefore, even if one has entered the gate of the Secret Mantra Vajrayana and has broken the root and branch vows, if one meditates on Vajrasattva every day and recites the hundred-syllable mantra twenty-one times, it will bless the downfalls.
