Evil view is itself a wrong view. So it is said. Second, the effect of acting in accordance with the cause: As stated in "The Treasury of Precious Qualities": "Acting in accordance with the cause is born from actions that are similar." For example, if one was a killer in the past, one is still fond of killing now; if one was a taker of what is not given in the past, one is still fond of stealing now, and so on. Third, the dominant effect or the effect of ownership: It ripens in the place, that is, due to killing, one is born in places where the land is barren and unpleasant, and which are harmful to life; due to taking what is not given, one is born in places of famine where crops are damaged by hail and so on; due to sexual misconduct, one is born in unpleasant places such as impure swamps; due to lying, wealth is unstable and one encounters fearful situations; due to divisive speech, it is difficult to reach dangerous cliffs and so on; due to harsh speech, places with stones, gravel, and thorns are uncomfortable; due to idle talk, even if one engages in agriculture, it is difficult to obtain fruit; due to covetousness, crops are damaged and much suffering arises; due to harmful intent, one is always full of fear and harm; due to wrong view, wealth is scarce and one is born in places without protection and friends. Fourth, the effect of the person's action: The actions one has done will increase, leading to experiencing suffering in many lifetimes and wandering endlessly in samsara. As the Omniscient One said: "The effect of the person's action is non-virtue; the suffering arises from the increase of what has been done." This is what is said. Second, the ten virtuous actions to be practiced: As stated in "The Precious Garland": "Not killing, abandoning stealing, abandoning others' wives, abandoning lying, divisive speech, harshness, and refraining from meaningless talk, being without attachment and harmful intent, and completely abandoning wrong views oneself, these are the ten paths of white actions." As it is said, protecting the lives of others, giving charity, practicing celibacy, speaking truthfully, reconciling disputes, speaking in accordance with the Dharma, speaking sweetly, being accustomed to generosity, cultivating loving-kindness and compassion, and relying on right view in one's mindstream. The ripening effects of these are: As stated in "Resting the Mind Itself": "Small results in being human, medium results in being a desire realm god, great results in being connected to meditative absorption in the formless realms. The happiness of the two upper realms.

As it is said, if practiced in small or medium degree, one will be born as a human or a god in the desire realm; if practiced from a great degree, combined with the four concentrations, one will be born in the form realm; and if practiced extremely, reaching the limit, one will attain the four formless absorptions. Regarding the result of the cause similar in kind, the acting cause similar in kind is: The Omniscient One said, "The acting cause similar in kind also inclines towards natural virtue." This means that from birth, one is delighted to do good deeds in all lifetimes. The experiencing cause similar in kind is: In the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Treasury, it says: "By abandoning killing, one will have long life and be free from illness; by abandoning taking what is not given, one's wealth will be abundant; by abandoning sexual misconduct, one's family will have no enemies; by abandoning lying, one will be praised by others; by abandoning harsh speech, one will be happy with pleasant words; by abandoning divisive speech, there will be no discord when meeting; by abandoning idle talk, one's words will be trustworthy; by abandoning covetousness, one's wishes will be fulfilled; by abandoning harmful intent, one will be peaceful when seeing pleasing things; by abandoning wrong views, one's views will be good. The chariot for going to higher realms, the ten virtues, those who desire high status and happiness, please accept it." That is what it says. The result of ownership or dominion is: It ripens in the land, meaning that all places are enriched with all the qualities of abundance, such as being adorned with flowers and fruits. In the Sutra on the Ten Virtuous Actions, it says: "By abandoning killing, one will be born in a good and delightful land. By abandoning taking what is not given, one will be born in a land where food is easy to digest, tastes delicious, and medicine is effective. By abandoning sexual misconduct, one will be born in a clean land with fragrant incense and medicinal trees. By abandoning lying, one will be born in a land free from harm from enemies and thieves, and where one is not deceived. By abandoning divisive speech, one will be born where beings are harmonious and the land is free from stones, pebbles, and thorns. By abandoning harsh speech, one will be born in a land where the seasons are not reversed and flowers and fruits ripen in due time. By abandoning idle talk, one will be born in a land where all places are level and adorned with lakes and ponds. By abandoning covetousness, one will be born where one sees the flourishing of flowers, fruits, and various good crops. By abandoning harmful intent, one will be born where there are many leaves and fruits that are sweet in taste. By abandoning wrong views, one will bear
