When it is proclaimed, "The flames blaze and arise!", the elder gods say, "This has happened before in the realm of Brahma and has returned again, there is no need to fear," and they breathe a sigh of relief. Thus, after the fire has destroyed seven times, in the second dhyana (meditative absorption) realm, rain with the essence of clouds and water forms, and a continuous rain falls like a yoke and a plow handle, causing the gods of clear light and everything below to be destroyed as if dissolving in salt water. Thus, after the rain has fallen continuously seven times, the wind vajra cross below rises up, destroying the abodes of the third dhyana and below, as if scattering ashes with the wind. In this way, in one destruction, all three elements of fire, water, and wind occur, and everything below the third dhyana is destroyed, which is said to be different from the system of the Treasury of Knowledge (Abhidharmakosha), etc. According to the Earth Division (Sastradevi) and the Abhidharma, when fire destroys, there is no smoke or ash, but it is burned away, and everything below the first dhyana is destroyed and then formed again as before. Again, destroyed by fire, etc., after the fire has destroyed seven times, everything below the second dhyana is destroyed by time. After forming again, after the fire has destroyed seven times, water destroys once, etc., in such a way that after water has destroyed seven times, it forms again, and then fire destroys seven times, after which the world that forms again is destroyed by wind from the third dhyana and below. In summary, fire destroys six times, water destroys seven times, and wind destroys once, for a total of sixty-four destructions. As it is said in the scriptures: "Fire destroys seven times, water destroys once. Thus, after water has destroyed seven times, in the end, it is destroyed by wind." The reason for such destruction is that below the first dhyana, there is conceptual thought and analysis, that is, the feelings of mind and mental factors are like fire, so they are destroyed by the corresponding fire. The second dhyana has the joy and bliss of meditative absorption, like a stream of amrita (nectar), so it is destroyed by water. The third dhyana has the movement of breathing, like wind, so it is destroyed by wind. This is not like the coarse wind of the desire realm, because there is no coarse body with channels and branches. The elder gods saying "It has happened before" means that, according to the Treasury of Knowledge, etc., it is to show that the gods of the upper realms have experienced many destructions in their respective lifetimes and have experienced them. Here, it refers to understanding the causes of the formation and destruction of the world.

They only talk about it, but they don't say they have seen it before. In that case, the four continents, Mount Sumeru, and the heavens, all contained within hundreds of millions of three-thousand-great-thousand worlds, will all be destroyed together, and eventually everything will become one space. If there is such a state of emptiness, then what is permanent and stable about our human body, or like the bee in the back? We should meditate on this from the bottom of our hearts. Second, contemplate impermanence by thinking about the sentient beings contained within. The "Resting in the Nature of Mind" says: Countless beings of the past have passed away, Most beings on earth today, Will surely be impermanent within a hundred years, Future beings will also follow in their footsteps. As it says. From the peak of existence to the realm of hell, there is not a single sentient being who can escape death. For example, considering humans on earth, those who were born a hundred years ago from today have exceeded the range that can be counted, but now there is only a remnant of their names. Similarly, future beings will be the same. The "Letter to a Friend" says: On earth or in heaven, Having been born, some have not died, Have you ever seen, Heard, or doubted? As it is said. Third, contemplate impermanence by thinking about the holy beings. In this present Fortunate Aeon, the Buddhas who appeared in the past, such as Vipashyin, Shikhin, Vishvabhu, Krakucchanda, Kanakamuni, Kashyapa, Shakyamuni, etc., like the full moon rising at night, with their perfect and beautiful forms, accompanied by immeasurable common and uncommon retinues, turned the wheel of Dharma of the three vehicles, and placed immeasurable sentient beings in the state of liberation. Their vajra bodies, made of a hundred merits, also showed impermanence and entered nirvana. Similarly, the five hundred arhats, such as Mahakashyapa, who compiled the scriptures in the sacred land of India, and the seven hundred arhats, such as Name, and Ribala
