The Great Wailing Hell is: Yama's minions strike with hammers, etc., and are placed in a two-tiered burning iron house, with both inner and outer doors sealed with molten iron. The thick smoke of the flames spreads, and it is pitch black. Even if they escape from the inner door, they think they cannot escape from the outer door, crying out intensely, experiencing suffering. The "Wish-Fulfilling Treasury" speaks of the Great Wailing and Wailing Hells. The Hot Hell is: being pierced through the body and reduced to ashes with burning iron skewers with sharp points, etc., and short spears, experiencing suffering. The "Two Truths Chariot" says: The Hot Hell is where burning iron skewers pierce through the center of the body, reducing the brain to ashes, and flames emerge from the doors of the senses and all the pores of the skin. Also, being boiled in an extremely burning cauldron, and lying supine on a burning iron plate on all sides, being struck with a burning iron hammer. Thus it is said. The "Practical Application Spike" says: The Hot Hell is where one is boiled in a burning iron cauldron, and when it is one's turn to rise to the top, one is struck on the head with a hammer, and even if one loses consciousness, one contemplates it as bliss, experiencing suffering. Thus it is said. The Very Hot Hell is: The "Commentary on the Treasury of Merit, Golden Needle" says: Being pierced from the lower part of the body upwards with a three-pointed short spear, until both shoulders and the brain are churned. From the outside, being wrapped with burning iron sheet ropes, and boiled together in boiling iron water. Thus it is said. The "Practical Application Spike" says: The Very Hot Hell is where, in a burning iron house, the two shoulders and the crown of the head are pierced and reduced to ashes with a three-pointed iron skewer, and the body is wrapped with burning iron cloth, which is extremely painful. Thus it is said. The Uninterrupted Hell is: A burning iron house surrounded by sixteen intensely hot neighboring areas, where the body is burned like a candle by extremely burning flames from all directions, and there is only the sound of wailing. The flames and the body are one, and they cannot be distinguished from each other, etc., more than other hells.

One must also fully experience the suffering of ignorance. Therefore, keep in mind and contemplate these eight hot hells. The eight cold hells are: the dense snowy mountains, etc. In general, all the ground and surroundings are at the foot of dense snowy mountains and in icy cold water. In those terrible, deep ravines, there is no distinction between day and night, and there is always a blizzard, causing the body to freeze. For a body like a newborn infant, it is difficult to endure the cold touch, and in addition to being beaten by the wind, blisters suddenly appear on the body, which is the Blister Hell. These blisters burst and fester due to extreme cold, which is the Bursting Blister Hell. Constantly uttering cries of lamentation, called the Achuchu Hell. Because of the unbearable suffering of extreme cold, the body's essence is completely exhausted, like a dying patient, the voice is hoarse, and with a long sigh, the sound of "Kya hud" is uttered, which is the "Kya hud" Hell. Unable to bear the stinging pain of the cold, the teeth clench, and no sound can be uttered, which is the Teeth-Clenched Hell. The outer skin turns blue and cracks into four petals, cracking like an উৎপལ་ utpala flower, and the red flesh inside is exposed, also cracking into eight petals due to extreme cold, cracking like a lotus. Even colder than that, turning reddish-black, cracking into sixteen petals, thirty-two petals, etc., cracking innumerably, cracking like a great lotus. In such cracked wounds, many iron-beaked worms enter and gnaw, experiencing various different cold sufferings, thus having eight different names. From practical application: Blister Hell, Bursting Blister Hell, Teeth-Clenched Hell, Achu Hell, Kya hud Hell, cracking like an উৎপལ་ utpala flower Hell, cracking like a lotus Hell, cracking like a great lotus Hell. In the summary of "Entering the Wise": Achu, Kya hud, Teeth-Clenched, Blister Hell and Bursting Blister Hell, cracking like a lotus and a great lotus, cracking like an উৎপལ་ utpala flower, these are the eight cold hells.
